Re: US or Canadian Regionals: Which are better for a low-time pilot?

US all the way. However it’s not as simple as commuting to the states and getting a job. You’re not gonna get sponsored for a work permit unless you’re already American, so you’re stuck with Canada. Make the best of it.

Re: CATSA nonsense

CATSA is only part of the issue. Keep in mind that at every airport, CATSA subcontracts their work out to a local security firm. (GARDA in YYZ, ASP in YYC, G4S in some other airports) etc. It’s those organizations that follow their own rules separate from what CATSA mandates, which is why we experie...

More importantly, how is he getting out of YBW nordo? Unfortunately, YBW won’t allow you to leave NORDO anymore. They’ll let you go without mode C, but you can’t re-enter the zone thereafter so keep that in mind. You can ask for an altitude below the YYC class C, and YBW tower will clear you enrout...

Why would you want to avoid speaking to anyone? That would be like trying to find a driving route that only takes alleys so you don't need to look at traffic lights.

Re: What is the process for putting a helipad on my property?

Why do you need anything? Just call it an off strip landing or put a little platform / dock out and land there. Second this. Heckalopters can be landed anywhere. I landed in my friend's backyard years ago, and all I could find in the CARs was that it was allowed as long as you had the permission of...

That's not a stretch for top guys doing some overtime. Sunwing has guys approaching that number as well, probably Westjet too. I don't think anyone is arguing the top level pay is inadequate. It takes working on a bunch of your time off, and half of that goes away to fund whatever it is our governm...

You're fooling yourself if you think otherwise. I haven't seen the lifestyle at Encore, but I am right to be skeptical about Jazz based on the fact that they make you agree to move somewhere before telling you where. You don’t have to move anywhere. Their commuting policy is extremely generous. Not...

Probably about a %5 chance.
There's no way 1 in 20 OTS new hires are from 703.
Yah you're right.

I think a few Thunder Air guys came over in the last year. That's about all the 703 I've heard of.

It’s my understanding that the OP is a Transat pilot who got a J class seat while on a reciprocal jumpseat pass, and decided to hate on the free meal he was served by creating this thread instead of just not eating it.

Accurate?
