Re: Air Transat Pilots Request Conciliation

“We are fighting against a culture of bitterness toward pilots from within the company,” said Capt. Roy. “Although we proved that we were willing to make personal and financial sacrifices to help the company during its dark financial times, the last proposal management presented us demonstrated a p...

Re: Encore - Not Worth It

I also don't think holding up a poster telling people not to join your (or a subsidy of your) company a positive step forward. Unstaffed planes, pilots quitting do not benefit westjet or westjet encore. I'm curious to know if all these 10yr+ wj employees who voted for encore and now have these conc...

Re: Encore - Not Worth It

I'll start by saying that I am a captain with Westjet and have been for over 10 years. When I started things were very different and for me it was the right career choice at the time and I am happy I am here. Frequently we have conversations in the flightdeck about the next generation of pilots and...

Re: Airline Interview Preparation

Looks like josiejoke didn't like the negative feedback on the DVD video he recommended. So much for that "1st time" imposter. I mean poster. Good luck with that Cathay Cadet Selection. For those of you wondering which video was being mentioned to waste your time, patience and money - it's the "Compl...

Re: Airline Interview Preparation

Seen this video. Don't bother wasting your money. Just another gimmick aimed at desperate pilots who are willing to try anything, and spend everything to land that air carrier job. It's actually a ridiculous video. More like role playing. Any/All of their questions asked can be found with a quick go...

Re: ATPL - multi VFR ride required??

Well Lurch, I'm sure it didn't matter what flight school taught you, because you probably were an arrogant douchebag prior to even stepping in your 150. The unfortunate thing is that we now have to endure your verbal diarrhea. Congrats on your 60 sec nerd skill you got going on there bud. If you act...

If you are at the point in your career that you are asking about the As then you better darn well be able to look it up yourself and understand what is required. :? Lurch Right on. This is a forum Lurch. And, in forums, I'll have you know - people ask questions. Be prepared to sift through some onc...

ATPL - multi VFR ride required??

As per Pro IFR`s website: "With respect to the flight test(s), if the candidate has acquired a minimum of 50 hours Multi-Engine PIC over the last 12 months (proved and certified in valid log book) you will only have to undertake one flight test . This will be a Multi-Engine IFR Flight Test with one...

Re: Wasn't there a forum here about investing tips and stuff

Tip: Don't ever take a stock tip. Ever. If you want to invest in a company do your research and crunch the numbers - financial report ratios, income statement blah blah blah. Then take a leap of faith and pour some dough into that company. Where do you start to get that info? One good book to flip t...

Re: College of Pilots?

Pilots need a union primarily so they can't stab each other in the back, and secondarily to negotiate a reasonable deal with some pretty unpleasant and predatory management. Pilots don't need more licensing/regulatory overhead. God knows we already have enough of that in Canada. IMHO. As far as sh1...

Re: Beaver Tips

As per bible 5.1.2(b) - Serious detonation may be caused if the engine is run continuously on one magneto, with manifold pressure as high as 25 to 30 In.Hg. Could someone possibly shed some light as to why detonation would occur with operation on one mag? Wouldn't operating on one mag be less effic...

Or make your own strainer, long tube of clear plastic with a stopper in the end so you can reach the drains without crawling completely under the plane, this also lets you get a good fuel sample as well Took your advice - works great! :smt023 If the dock is in shallow water and its relatively warm....

Re: Mike Babcock

Of note; almost all the goals against MB were down low. Yes, he is one of the best goalkeepers in the NHL, but a key problem with yesterday's game is that MB was up against teamates (former teamates - Rafalski) which - regardless of how skilled a person is any position - there are always weaknesses....
