4 old floatplanes grounded west coast

All 4. Parts are useless without certification, even if they are sealed in the original packaging. My suspicion is that some jaundiced little dwarf in TC just wants make a name for himself. C.A. That's a strong statement given the age of these planes. I would think that it's not too far of stretch ...

Re: Wipaire announces C208B Grand Caravan on floats

Furthermore, my comment about why a pilot would care about his aircraft's useful load was simply that: why the PILOT would care. Seems like something that is an operator's concern. Uggg ummm hmmm aww heck I don't know where to even start. I'll leave this for someone else to spell out. But I can thi...

Re: International Seaplane Pilots Association

I've found that seaplane forums is great organization, that has world wide following already and they don't ask for a bunch of personal information.

Re: Wipaire announces C208B Grand Caravan on floats

Since when did pilots start caring so much about how much their airplane can haul on paper? Legal weight is becoming more and more of an issue. Just ask the Beaver operators on the west coast. Sure in the back woods, far from the eye of TC you can overload as much as you feel safe to do. But in mor...

How to reset King School software on my PC

I bought and paid for the King Schools G1000 instructional DVD. I've gone through all the lessons (there are lots) it tracks your progress and marks off each section as you complete. I can't find an option to reset the tracking system and start over. Does anyone know how I could do this short of uni...

I saw this a bit last year and lot more this year. It's definately going up as experienced bush pilots are becoming harder to come by.

Re: Trans Maldivian

is it really a 24k bond? how much do you pay the Expats capt/FO Actually it's a $48,000 bond. It's $24,000 to start and for some crazy reason it's renewed when you upgrade to captain. So $24,000 as FO and then if you upgrade 2 years later it's renewed again at and additional $24,000. For $48,000 co...

Re: AVEOS closes the doors

Not to be all gloom and doom but maybe this isn't the worst of it. I know that AC has other options for maintenance but AVEOS seems to be the main supplier at this time. Is it even possible for the other contractors to pick up the slack in the short term? In otherwords no maintenance = no planes bei...

Alpha Air - Indonesia info?

Anyone know anything about this company? Aircraft types, maintenance, company history? I've tried to find some mention of them on the internet and nothings coming up.

I wasn't able to find any listing on PCC either.

How do you embed a video in AvCanada?

I've seen a few people embed U-tube videos in their posts. I've tried a couple of times and can't figure it out. What are the steps to do this?

Re: Become a Volunteer Pilot: Hope Air

Chax, I was thinking the same thing but wasn’t going to say anything until I saw the repeated post about the tax receipt. That seemed a bit cheeky to me and you do have a reasonable question. Hope Air is a good charity to donate to but you are right to wonder about the costs. Notice I said donate an...

Re: Another Crash in the Maldives

My bad. I only go on what I heard from what I thought is a reliable source. Kinda makes it worse though, when you think of it. Good conditions, etc. The biggest problem is letting low time, inexperienced pilots who have only flown 172's in the right seat. When you trade soveriegnty for safet...

Re: c182 rating

I read the thread you linked to. I'm not sure that link addresses the original posters question. They aren't offering a C182 rating they are offering a jump pilot check out in a C182.

As Kevinsky18 said this will not show up on your license, its simply more time in your log book.

Flying while suspended for Impaired

Got a buddy who got a 6 month license suspension for driving while impaired. He says he can still fly, even commercially, saying he’s not driving a car on the highway. But I thought that when you got an impaired the judge / law says to, “not operate a motor vehicle.” A plane seems like a motor vehic...

What's considered low time for floats on the West coast?

I've done a couple of seasons in MB & Northern Ontario about half my time on floats. I'd like to get back to my home province of BC. I know HA, Sea Air, PASCO etc all want at least 1000-1500hrs on floats, coast time etc. My question is, are their any other companies that hire lower time float driver...

Re: Did Iran literally hijack a US stealth drone?

Programmed to self land? Not the usual MO for the U.S. and CIA when it comes to top secret technology. But if that's the case would seem whoever thought of that didn't think about the consequences of such technology getting into the wrong hands. Guess the worry of civilian casualties has outweighed ...

Up - Down time Iphone app?

I often fly 20 legs in a day sometimes more and at the end of a busy day I find that I may have missed an up time or down time. I always have my Iphone with me and I’m wondering if the is a small simple app to automatically record air times based on GPS speed and Altitude. Specifically: Up times, La...
