Re: Air Canada Cadet Program

I'd guess the few glaring omissions are the few times an experienced pilot would be required to get the aircraft on the ground safely.

Re: Rick Mercer gives Air Canada kudos on new jobs.

Nice to see someone finally notice. Good Rant Rick, but 6 or so years late. Air Canada has been systematically 'eliminating' full time positions for permanent part time positions since CCAA. I know an Air Canada CSA who went through it. They're told they're overstaffed, and X number of positions are...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)

Crusty tonight doc? Maybe you need to do your homework. Keystone has crashed twice in the city limits of Winnipeg with chieftains. One killed an elderly American tourist, which I think you are referring to. But they also crashed short of Rwy 36 with a load of pukatawagan passengers on board. Not "c...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)

Sarah, a quick google search will show you keystones safety record. I can't think of a Manitoba operator who has a worse safety record, yet they live to get mileage out of their implementation of SMS. Sorry about the . @ thing....didn't know that. Now, as for the SMS thing, Keystone came out with t...

Re: A pilot's letter to a CEO

Nark: what do they teach when, in icing conditions, you change the configuration and then something adverse occurs? They teach to go back to the previous configuration! I'd bet $100 bucks that's what the FO was thinking, since both pilots seemed to be preoccupied with 'icing conditions' during the a...

Re: Antonov 225 in YYC March 11th

I had no idea it was coming in so imagine my reaction when I noticed it turning final over Airdrie! My wife was like, 'what's the big deal?', So I informed her she was 'cut off' for the next 2 weeks while she learned a thing or two.... My kids thought it was cool though!

Re: Is 337 time considered "real" multi-PIC time or not?

"back in the day" I had come across a choice of flying the 337 flying fire patrol, or the Beaver on floats doing fishing charters. After much humming and hawing and figuring the best course of action I chose the Beaver, and haven't regretted the decision since... my next job off the Beaver was capta...

DaveP I have a question that relates to this topic. I assume that the mainline never hired any pilots directly off the Caravan or the PC12 or the like(SE-Turbine)... in your opinion do you think the regional might hire those guys at least into the right seat of whatever the regional is going to be o...

There are 3 approved techniques in the Boeing manual. I don't give a damn 'who' prefers 'what'. Land the damn plane safely and keep the damn plane airworthy. The rest is fluff.
