Re: First Interview

I’ve been helping a lot of newbies with first interviews recently and a lot of the medium operators and ALL of the large ones have given the interview process over to the HR department. Plan to answer questions like: the Captain you’re flying with wants to bust minimums so he can get home for the ni...

Re: 703 duty day tracker

All you need is a well-designed spreadsheet. I made them for our company's pilots and TC was happy when we were audited. I've also made them for small operators all over the country. PM me and I'll send you examples. Same here, can't PM you but I'm very interested in that spreadsheet ! Thanks :) Bu...

Re: Digital logbook recommendations

Sheets does the ranges for dropdowns a little differently (you can get around that with using named ranges).

And some formulas in Sheets don’t exist in Excel, such as Query and Sortn. It’s a shame because Query is one of the reasons I prefer Sheets over Excel

Check this out:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSd6jZXcWck&t=140s

- made by Canadian commercial guy
- uses Google Sheets (much easier to use than Excel and it also ain't going anywhere)
- tailor-made for the ATPL application
- TC loves the logbook print-out

If you have a Google account, I can send you a W&B and flight planning file.

For a preview:

Letter of Proficiency

I did a checkout for someone this week and they need a Letter of Proficiency for the insurance company.

Any idea what the wording should be? I can't find any examples online.

Thanks,

Re: Tips for float flying on the West Coast

There have been three times during my career when I had to land in virtually zreo zero visibility conditions. The first time was Penticton in a Tri gear Beech 18 at night . The second time was in Whitehorse in a DC3 in ice fog on one engine. The third time was in Niamey Niger in a Harmattan dust sto...

Insurance

I'm looking to start a little 2 float plane outfit and am looking for answers to 2 questions about insurance.

1) Does anyone has any suggestions for insurance companies?

2) And do you need business and liability insurance in addition to insurance of the aircraft?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Info about Wamair.

I worked there recently and would *ABSOLUTELY* advise against going up there. Messy little gong shows like this need to go, for the good of the industry.

Guardian Aerospace

Does anyone know anything about them? I've never heard of them, but they came up when I did a search, and they look like a potentially good spot for this lowtimer.

Wamair and other Manitoba Operators

I'm looking into south and central Manitoba operators with some single-engine wheel and float planes this summer. I've heard Wamair is a good operator, but their website is down. Does anyone know anything about them - maintenance, routes, reputation, etc - or could suggest others?
