Re: Justin's blackface pic on a T-shirt not part of the AC dress code
You can’t be offended, you can only take offence! To not allow a shirt change and to slam any person because of a natural human reaction, especially to such a minor thing…. This is why I don’t call the police and I will never deplane someone for something less than a very serious incident. I won’t c...

Re: Ornge Pc-24s?
Rumour comes from the aviation publications. Google and a AI are clearly not in some folks wheel house…. Asking a question on AV can then wasting one’s time (like I am now) to post said question… hopefully that’s enough sources…. Good luck asking for more money in the fixed wing. A helicopter guy ca...

Re: WestJet to Layoff 100+ Pilots
They did not need to buy Sunwing, they could have hired those pilots and opened bases in YUL and YHZ and booked people at whatever hotels they choose to package with. They did not buy the hotels. They bought the call centres planes and employees. Ask Onex why they thought it was a good idea to merg...

Re: WestJet to Layoff 100+ Pilots
One might argue that buying 500ish (prob 4-450 after people jump ship) and than laying people off because you are over staffed might fall under that category. They did not need to buy Sunwing, they could have hired those pilots and opened bases in YUL and YHZ and booked people at whatever hotels the...

Re: Hydro Quebec buys ATR 72-600's
It was already mentioned that Hydro uses their planes for their business. The SOPFU is totally separate and everyone knows hydro is not actually going to be converting their 72s into fire fighting rigs. As for VMC on the 72, that will definitely be an interesting question. But lose an engine on the ...

Re: Hydro Quebec buys ATR 72-600's
Squawk 7500 The FF72 albeit ugly as sin, the numbers they give are not too bad. Especially if you’re talking about used aircraft, as most fire bombers seem to be. Numbers look good. 280 kts or so at FL180. 8000 litres to the 415s 6000. Punch in some beaching areas up north. This could be an affordab...

Re: Hydro Quebec buys ATR 72-600's
Hydro uses their planes to move people and cargo (not sure how much cargo) to their remote generating stations. The province uses theirs as an air ambulance and moving people.
The FF72, that’s funny. I want to see it. Like the Aztec on floats.

The Canadian Coast Guard is part of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. So it’s a completely civilian agency, they do work very closely with the RCMP and the CAF.

Busy dense airspace with lots of airlines. The ident is given to you in your flight plan. My favourite I have heard so far has been TOM4BJ.

Re: Pilots thinking of leaving WJ due to 16 year upgrades
If you were not a WG pilot why did you choose Westjet in the first place? As it has been pointed out the merger had no real effect on upgrades. Sunwing does not add a large number of pilots to the western bases and the reason they would have those bases is because they have the flying to allow it. T...

I think the better question is why would anyone choose to go to Westjet over any of the other 705 operators, AC,AT,SW(rip),FL etc. What does Westjet do better than the rest?

Re: Reasons to come to Air Canada (… or not)
Air Transat has done that… Cargo Jet does it. It’s done because that’s what people have voted for, not because it’s actually true. I have been in the front of a few wides and read a few checklists. Have not seen anything different, still an airplane.

How was anyone afraid of arbitration? Flair and Westjet have set some benchmarks. I honestly can’t see how an arbitration process would leave you worse of then you already were or are now. The 67% is no shocker…. They were all happy to either vote 10 years ago for the crap or that went there in the ...

What? Say again, you’re coming in stupid! Sell outs say what? Pilot who have gone there in the past years have done nothing but suppress the wages. When people are willing to accept that garbage then AC does not have to do anything. You knew what the wages were and you choose to go there. No one fo...

You are more like westjet then you are like the US or Asian carriers. A new low for AC pilots. One should question the decision making skills of those who went to AC for such low wages. If you don’t like the wage you should have voted with your feet… What? Say again, you’re coming in stupid! Sell o...

Legally the plane has the right of way. The boat being more manoeuvrable could have done and 90 plus degree turn easily. Hard to tell what the pilot could see but I think he could have aborted fairly easily.

Why do so many people hate on “flat pay”? Flat pay is not the problem, it’s the amount they pay that’s the issue. Your initial pay should not be based on luck of the draw. You draw a 220 and buddy next to you gets the 777 on day one and makes a pile more. Type pay is actually stupid, what is actuall...

About 500 WG and 2-3000 WS pilots are going to go through the simulator and learn new SOPs by October? They may fly routes like WS is already flying WG… but they will still be 2 distinct pilot groups for some time yet.
