Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
About 500 WG and 2-3000 WS pilots are going to go through the simulator and learn new SOPs by October? They may fly routes like WS is already flying WG… but they will still be 2 distinct pilot groups for some time yet.

Re: Stop the unfair UP Express price hike for Employees
Thank me for my service, ok I will accept that. You all think I’m so special for being in the CF…. I sure do enjoy my 25% off on VIA and my free checked bag on most airlines. I’m not special for serving, we are just regular folk doing a job. Why people hold this WW2 image of soldiers is beyond me. I...

Re: Stop the unfair UP Express price hike for Employees
Rookie of you served in the CF you would know it’s just a job. Being a pilot is significantly more dangerous then being in the CF today. There is nothing special about joining the CF especially as 031 pte bloggins.

Re: Stop the unfair UP Express price hike for Employees
$7 is almost the presto fare of 9…. From 25c more then the the TTC to the price of 2 rides…. Time to start only paying one way…. As for discounts, Via rail gives forces members 25% off, that’s a crown corp. you can fish with no license in Ontario if you served. You can also go to federal national pa...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Sounds like a lot of Jr. Captains on here…. All the bennis for them but F the guys at the top and bottom… Why would Jr. Captains get to keep their positions or keep their pay? So would WG Sr. FOs get a pay increase relative to when they would have been upgraded? A proper relative seniority would tak...

Relative seniority is the only way any merger should be done at any airline.

Re: What's the over and under pilots can focus on contract negotiations
Everyone on property at AC has absolutely 0 right to complain about the low wages. The wages have been low for a very long time especially for the flag carrier. People keep lining up for that job. Some even leave $200,000 a year jobs to work for that wage. You went there knowing it was shit yet you ...

Re: Pros and Cons btw FO and RP?
Back on topic…. One must consider a lot of factors to see if RP or FO is right for them. First off, will you even get a choice if you are even hired…. What are your priorities. Are you a commuter. Do you have 704/705 time in either the right or left seat. Is having a jet type rating important to you...

IFR or VFR?
If you are VFR once you leave the MF you are free to switch.
While E is “controlled airspace” it’s also not.

How can you not have enough seniority to hold a so called block of flying rather then reserve if there is socialized bidding?

You can’t blame them for doing what they are doing right now. 95% of us don’t have the right to work in the USA. They have a captive audience. Why would they pay more when they don’t have too. Toronto is one of the most expensive airports on planet. Until very recently it was number 1. The fees here...

Every job is a different experience for every person. If you are ok with 15h duty days and either being 24h on call with 1h to report or on hot reserve doing a 12h shift that switches between night and day shift, it might be for you. only a few have flight bennis and some are rotations. Most souther...

The pay rates are in the collective agreement. There is pilot 1-5 with aboot 7 steps per. Chopper’s and Twin otters are P4 415 co-jo is P3 even if they were a P4 first. Beavers are P2. Flying on the 415 is about 100h a year. No one gets much past 200. Some years are sub 50h with the record being lik...

Re: Owner Maintenance flying to the USA
It’s definitely a strange rule… Amateur built and its owner maintained can still go. The FAA has the form 337 that we don’t allow up here and the experimental category. Then there is this new beauty down there where the FAA is going to allow off the shelf parts in airplanes that are older then 1980 ...

I could not agree more….. why are pilots still stepping on each other for stepping stone jobs with very low pay.
Divided we fall…. Anyone who signs a bond today is a scab, sorry to say it but it’s the truth.

A quick Civil Aircraft Registrar search will show that they no longer have any. Looks like the two that were there are now at Northern Thubderchicken.

You know who hates pilots more then the delayed passenger or the companies they work for. Other Pilots…. It’s truly sad. Imagine if we all worked together. Great post.
