Re: Discrimination ?

From my perspective, hiring a 50-something would be ideal at a regional carrier. They need people to stay so if you didn't get hired, there is more going on than discrimination. Perhaps doing some interview prep or recording yourself answering HR-type questions will give you some insight into what i...

Re: YYZ Classroom Rental

Thanks for the replies. I have previously been renting conference rooms at hotels but I need a consistent space that is dedicated. GTAA is too rich for what my budget is so this becomes a search for a company that has a room collecting dust they would be happy to part with for the short term. Again,...

YYZ Classroom Rental

I am looking for a short term (4-6 months) classroom rental at YYZ. Room would need to accommodate 25 people ideally but could be smaller. Would like to be to be the sole user of the room and pay a monthly rate. Starting to grab at straws so I was hoping someone knew of a classroom collecting dust I...

Re: Worth the move?

47north: Not sure where you get your info from but 50% attrition is not even remotely close to being true. Very little turnover on the Q400 and yes, the numbers leaving on the E-175 are higher. Keep in mind that some do leave for the 18k USD monthly contracts in China or DEC 767 at CargoJet. There i...

Can't wait to see what 18 737-800s will be doing in the summer. Sounds like a grand idea.

Re: Canjet going under (again)?

I can make better coin at AC, AT or WJ? Let's leave WJ out of the equation as after 2 years you do make a nice salary - the other 2 options put me $80k in the hole per year. Get your facts straight.

Re: Sunwing JS with AC

Go to the check-in counter at least 60 minutes prior to departure and request the jumpseat. They will either contact the Captain then, or issue you a boarding pass subject to Captain's approval. Either way, you will end up with a boarding pass that will get you to the gate to be finalized. Just have...

Re: Sunwing 767's...?

Cyrus - I have to admit that I agree with some of your points and others make me cringe. However, your information about CanJet is VERY incorrect. First off, CanJet brought over the grand total of 30 contract pilots last year, ALL of which were FO's. Out of 125 current pilots, over 80 are Captains, ...

Re: Grounding Foreign Pilots

Some good points have been made above, but many of the opinions are coming from complete ignorance on the charter market in Canada. First off, can we agree that comparing Sunwing to Canjet is completely ridiculous? Sunwing is bringing in somewhere between 180-200 contract pilots when they only have ...

Re: Sunwing

A couple points - First, at least CanJet has hired all through the year. It will be over 30 permanent positions, and they are also hiring a couple of Enerjet guys as well in early December. I agree it sucks that there were no reciprocal agreements the past two years. However, CanJet simply did not h...

Re: What is going on at Sunwing?

BS. They are not going to lay anyone off.

Sunwing will go to 17-18 airplanes next winter, give or take. They had 12 this year I believe, so brush up your resumes as well as "what you hear".

Re: Jazz Air LP signed an agreement with Thomas Cook Canada

Things will change. This is not going to resemble the past at all - Jazz will protect this work, and that is how it will be. Everything you ever knew about charter/deployments/contract pilots will come to a complete halt with this signing. My $0.02. PS - Bad news for the SSV guys looking for work. I...

I can say this for sure: Anything right now is nothing more than speculation. There are plenty of rumours flying around, and Flair is one of them. However, the bids are due in April, and June is the earliest that any sort of decision will be made. This contract is Barry's to lose, and I believe this...

A lot of the 140's I am seeing in the US have the same STC's. They are very common and I am wondering if anyone has had any issues with TC for Mogas, Meto-Aire wingtips, and gap seals on the ailerons etc.. None of these are 337's, so I am assuming that common mods such as these are fine as long as t...

Want To Import A Cherokee - Don't Want Surprises

Hey All. I am considering buying a PA 28-140 from the US. The price is that much better that I think I can handle a few fiscal curveballs from TC if it happens. Here is my wish list to make the process as easy as possible. - Engine overhaul by a reputable shop - No 337's - All mods via an STC - No d...

Can you post a link to the article or write verbatim what it says? Can't seem to find it.

I was under the impression that the Sens contract was only for one year.

Starjet operates under CJ's OC, I believe as a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Business Casual...

It seems that everyone I talk to that has interviewed for a pilot position at WJ has a different take on whether to wear a tie or not. Some are adamant not to, and others say they did as they would rather be over dressed than under.

I want to hear from those in the know as to what they did. Thanks.

To jumpseat in the cockpit you MUST be a company employee. Unfortunately, there is no possible way you can jumpseat on KFA or CJT.

So in the US they will accept Canadian ID and licenses? I am having a hard time accepting that if I walked up to a gate agent in BUF and handed over my Canadian credentials they would have no problem issuing a boarding pass. They have probably never even seen a license that big before! Seriously tho...
