Re: Best Airline in North America
Congratulations Air Canada. But in the international league table no North American carrier will even register. It is like being top of the class in the “special” school.
Of course I am just talking service. The cockpit crews on all carriers are just fine.

Re: Cheap Car rentals
This is one of the secrets of us long haul pilots. Phone this UK number it connects you to the interline reservations for Alamo rental. I have never seen better deals. Coming for a visit next week to Calgary, I have a compact car for 177 Canadian Dollars for the whole week, including insurance. The ...

Re: A Posting on PPrune I thought was Interesting...
I am still watching the news. It is coming down to crunch time. I know BA won’t disappear, but some major help will have to come its way. Pilots have done their bit, handing in pay, and increasing their productivity. Most of the rest of the workers are balking. Some 1800 have “volunteered” to work f...

Re: A Posting on PPrune I thought was Interesting...
Sure I don’t know what I am talking about, lol. My post was to show that BA is in a lot of trouble, even more so than the other majors in Europe. Apparently people think that BA has its ducks all lined up, I want to show it does not. It has a lack of strategy, and focus. On all fronts it is under th...

Re: A Posting on PPrune I thought was Interesting...
British Airways was just downgraded to one level below junkbond status. It has some really big problems! It forms the core of the weakest worldwide alliance around (One World). It has the weakest hold of its main (and only true) hub. It is under attack from all sides, low costs (Easyjet, and Ryanair...

Re: Runway overrun caught on tape.
You either put it down in the touchdownzone, or go-around. But looking at some of the videos for this airport some severe questions should be asked about its location and configuration. It is like threading a needle.

Re: Young A330 FO
The pay scales at KLM are very much linked to the equipment you fly for Captains (top pay is around 420,000 Canadian Dollar on any wide-body). For First Officers there is a distinction between wide-body and narrow body. All FO’s on the MD-11, B747-400, B777, and A330 are bunched together (whereby th...

Re: Young A330 FO
I grew up in Canada (Edmonton). Joined KLM at 23 as a second officer on the Boeing 747-200/300 (after a couple of years up north), this is not an flight engineer. It is a cruise relief pilot (only allowed to occupy any pilot seat above FL200 in normal conditions). In case of an emergency they leave ...

Yep, one other Mount Royal Grad. But there are at least 2 other pilots from Canada in the left seat. Not sure what the count is for the right seat, but around 8 sounds about right.

Re: This is going to be good
Many Canadians over here at KLM. Did Mount Royal College, been in the left seat of the Boeing 777 for a couple of years now. Great outfit to work for.
