Re: Should I...

Don't take the loan untill you have to. I didn't, it took me a bit longer but Im only 10k in the hole. Thats going to be hard enough to pay off at 8$ a hour, if I owed the bank 50k it would be hard not to go back to my old job pay off the loan.

Re: Kelowna C-152 crash

I did all my training on my own 150, and as a result it was up to me to deal with fuelling and checking the tanks. I learned to not even look at the gages as they are so inaccurate (even more so with the master off  ). The only way to check is to dip the tanks. I thought this was common knowle...

The best time for a road trip

I am trying to get that elusive first flying job and realize that a road trip to visit the operators in person may be the best way to go about this. I have a CPL (obviously) a bit over four hundred hours, fifty hours on floats and a multi rating. I want to fly floats although I realize I will need t...

You will want to take advantage of the high cruising speed (in a Cessna 150 manual)

Did the US not do this a while back? So much for learning from their mistakes.

Re: aerial photography

This came up on my commercial ride and the examiner was very clear that although you wouldn’t be benefiting financially you would be with hours in your log book and because of this transport would deem it commercial flying.

Re: Running out of Fuel

When I first started flying my great uncle who is an ex air force pilot and red knight, summed it up the best “don’t run out of gas, it would be really embarrassing”

I thought a wheeled plane usually flips when it goes down in the water? This one looked to be floating upright.

Re: Fly-in Lunch Destinations on the West Coast

Courtenay Air Park has a great restaurant named Tomato that is well worth checking out. Also the sandpiper near Harrison mills is good fun as the runway is fairly narrow (20feet). If you go to the sandpiper give them a call beforehand and someone will come and pick you up from the strip, this beats ...

Re: Abbotsford Airshow 2009 Disappointment

I found this year to be a bit slow as previous posters have stated but still enjoyable. Static was a bit weak this year and the F 18 demos where a bit repetitive. War birds and the mig 17 where definitely cool.

Re: Bose X vs. Lightspeed Zulu vs. David Clark X11

Had the DC for a year and a half and no problems. I have tried both the Bose and Zulu and found the ANC to be a bit better on them than my DC but found both headsets to be uncomfortable (maybe I have an odd shaped head). Buddy of mine had a Zulu and has had to send it in 3 or 4 times, under warranty...

Re: Clearing the rain on a Turbo-Otter

Don't use rain-x on Plexiglass I have heard it will cause the window to become cloudy over time. I believe it even says on the rain-x bottle to not use on plastics. I would use a non abrasive wax it works better than rain-x anyway and it will fill in any scratches.

North Pender Island

I would like to fly into north Pender Island to the grass strip there and am wondering if any one has any advice. Will be in my own 150 and I have been into a few short narow grass strips. Any tips or general knowledge of the strip would be greatly apreciated. I know that it is fairly up hill and yo...

Re: Flight club/rentals in Vancouver?

Langley flying school is great. Less likely to have as many rules just for the sake of having rules. Plus CYNJ is closer to the mountains and less busy when compared to boundary bay.
