Re: NOTAM for CYYC starting June 4, 2012 must have reservati

It doesn't help when one of Canada's major airlines won't accept 'Land and Hold Short' because it is in their SOPs that they are not authorized to... amraam On top of that, alot of manufactures (Embraer being one) does not have the proper certification for land/hold short operations (Canada only?)....

Glide Slope?

Initial findings are pointing to low level wind shear.

Anyone have the FD's from that day to compare with the ground wind?

I'm sure if it came to non PPC'd people, they would probably train people within the company (as they hopefully have proven they can read).

And I would hope any applicants that stated 'Willing to pay for PPC' were blacklisted...

I didn't think you could get a PPC in Canada without the proper license (ie. CPL/IATRA or ATPL for a Jetstream).

Net Take Off

My understanding that it is the horizontal distance required to climb to 1500' AAE, and is corrected for Pilot Error (8% or something).

I think the new total time requirements are lower (2500), but they now have specific time requirements (ie. certain multi time, turbine time, jet time, 12.5 time, etc).

Kind of interesting...

Cell Phone Adapter?

Anyone know where I can find an adapter for my headset that can plug in a cell phone/cd player?

There are a few online that I can find, but most run $100.00 +, which is a bit much for me.

Any help would be nice!

The first time a company takes a pilot over another pilot just because he has cash (read: Jetsgo ), you aren't getting the best pilots you could get. That leads to unsafe operations (read: Jetsgo ) and a laughing stock for the rest of aviation. That was the first attempt at a major airline doing tha...

AC?

Do these 1900 wizards even know how to use an autopilot or an fms?
Didn't think that's what made a good pilot, although flying Pavement to Pavement and ILS to ILS your whole career always limits your experience.

Oh well, be happy for them, they have a nice easy ride from the start.

The best Pilots out there could definately take a POH, read it, and fly the plane.

We need PPC's for TC to show that the Pilots who are not the best can do the job safely (in their opinion)

I know many a pilot who passed a TC ride who I wouldn't want flying me around, ever.

Victimless

Smoking pot is a crime, sure, but it is a victimless one, provided you keep it to yourself and don't do anything stupid that would endanger anyone else. Victimless? Buying dope, no matter if it's pot, crack, E, or whatever, fuels the drug dealing system that creates countless victims. So unless you...

PPC on 704

Anyone know if you can do a PPC flight test on a Metro 23 (right seat) and not have an ATPL?

I know ya need an ATPL or IATRA to fly the plane, but are you exempt from needing the ATPL/IATRA for the purposes of a flight test?
