Re: Jazz Q400 Right main landing gear collapse YEG
What was the final word on the SAS gear collapses. Did it turn out to be the fault of the manufacturer or the airline? The causal factor was ineffective maintenance procedures with respect to processes used to lubricate components of the MLG. Part of the problem was maintenance instructions that we...

Re: Why Speculating on Crashes is a Good Thing
Trying to stop people speculating on the reasons why a crash happened is futile. You can´t possibly do it. All you can do is try bringing some reason into the discussion and if the uninformed do not get the message, move on.

Here´s a story about two Finnish girls who bought a Diamond DA40 in the States, hired a pilot who had previous experience and flew their aircraft across the pond to Helsinki last summer via the usual route, sort of proving that girls can do it, too: http://n756ds.blogspot.com/ The aircraft is now ba...

Here´s an accident that happened in spite of the Hoover ring - partly because the local fuel distributor had attached an extra piece to the nozzle to make it fit: these German guys were driving a Beech 60 Duke, landed in Oulu, Finland for refuelling, asked for the wrong fuel (Jet A) not realizing th...

Finnair retires the MD-11 from passenger service
Small news perhaps, but since Finnair retired the MD-11 from scheduled passenger traffic yesterday, Feb 22, that only leaves one operator, KLM, who still use it on intercontinental passenger flights. The last MD-11 flight arrived from Delhi yesterday afternoon. Even the captain had to admit publicly...

Re: Half Finnish, half Canadian F-18 Hornet crashes in Finland
It certainly is... A Finnish Accident Investigation Board search party on Friday found the flight data recorder of an F/A-18 jet that crashed the day before. The Finnish Air Force is to begin analysing the data from the so-called black box, which is actually orange, as soon as possible. Kimmo Nortaj...

They (Patria Aviation, Finland) spent a few years of calendar time, some 15 million euros and a hundred thousand manhours to build a twin seat Hornet D from two half frames, one Finnish and one Canadian - but now it´s gone, having crashed today on a test flight where the two pilots had to eject beca...

Body scanners produce kiddie porn? Really? OTTAWA–Travellers under 18 will be exempt from Canada's peek-a-boo body scanners amid international fears that the resulting images would amount to child pornography. While Canadian officials on Tuesday refused to explain the exemption, the child-po...
