Rush Passport
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if Passport Canada will issue a rush passport to a pilot for an international company? I'm in a bit of a pickle as I have a personal trip in a month to a place that requires 6 month validity on your passport, and a trip to the US just came up. Now there isn't enou...

XM or Sirius radio in the Arctic...
Hey, I'm horrible at keeping up with downloading new tunes on the ipod and am looking to upgrade. I was wondering if anyone has tried out one of the portable personal radios (Stiletto etc...) and has had any trouble with coverage in the arctic while flying? Thanks for your input guys and girls!

Re: WHAT THE H*LL AM I SIGNING UP FOR??
I came out with my licenses post 9/11 and will admit the first year and a half were a bit of a struggle. Albeit, I was single and willing to move to places where most people wouldn't, I found myself within two years making a very comfortable salary, being able to buy some toys and even travel a litt...

Luftansa 340 in YYQ
Hi, did a quick search and didn't find anything that came up right away. I was wondering for curiositys sake if anyone knew anything about Luftansa's 340 that did an emergency landing November 5th in Churchill around 9:30-9:45 pm (I think?). Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me, wish my camera batt...

I've personally done it to a captain after I made the switch from the 99 to the metro (99 has preselect flap positions, metro does not for those that do not know). Set a 1/4 flap for take-off, moved the handle into what i thought was neutral and we kept going with the checks. I am by no means perfec...

Taking off with the flaps in the fully extended position actually will make it almost impossible to hold the plane on the ground until rotation speed on the metro (as everyone who has either done this by accident or had it done to them by an fo knows  ). The plane doesn't climb normally, but i...

I think its states in the ops manual the 703 300' AGL limit, and 500' for 704 day, 1000' agl night. However, these are superseeded by a memo stating that no A/C shall be operated at an altitude of less than 500'ft agl at any time other than take off or landing. So, you are right about what it states...

I would bring everything that you want to bring. There's enough guys/girls up here with houses/extra storage that at least until you get settled you'll have a place to keep your stuff. Also, I wouldn't worry about a place to stay until you find something permanet, more than enough people up here tha...

Original post edited for clarification. Question came up in conversation, which led to a bit of a debate. Would the labour board (or whoever looks into such matters) stand up for a person who was fired from a company for any incident, no matter the severity, if there was no gross negligence and no S...

Can a company legally do this?
Quick hypothetical question for the guys/girls on here that know a lot more details about the legal world than I: can a person get fired if they damage an airplane while following SOP's? Let's say they have been at the company long enough that they are off the probationary period, and it’s the first...

Are they losing guys like everyone else? On PCC its says they still have guys and girls on furlough, say it ain't so? Also have heard throug...

There's actually quite a few companies looking right now, especially west of Ontario. As long as you are willing to put your time in on the ramp or in dispatch, etc. you should be able to find something. I'm just on my way back from a cross country "air" trip, to move out to my new job. Good luck on...
