Immigration is an issue but not just in aviation if you want to work in Canada that's the way it is, actually I think it is harder for Canadian's moving into the EU at the moment. Embraer, BAE145, ATP will not do you any good in Canada unfortunately, I am not certain but I think there are still a fe...

Nope
195 I am not so sure. Jazz has experience to offer and where would you suggest an apprentice go for a better wage experience combination. If you think an M2 can handle a line base then you have probably never worked the regional world lately. A 705 line base at Jazz will turn dozens of aircraft a da...

Jazz?
Your joking right. Jazz will teach you more than you could ever hope for in most of the rest of the Canadian industry. Plus you have stuff like a 50% duty cycle, (5 on 5 off), flight benifits, factory training, I can't believe you think that the largest regional carrier in the country would be anyth...

I think what is being lost in this is that you seldom do a C check on a Piper Cherokee.
The world of Transport aircraft and general aviation are not comparable in regards to log book entries.

Thanks I understand your position and agree that not everything can be explained in a log book entry. Look at it this way, I suspect that this Hawker you speak of has had an engine visit. In the engine log they have likely made an entry that it was say overhauled. It would be appropriate to attach a...

If you own an aircraft and the data you need is not in the log book you have a problem as all work accomplished is to be entered. Referencing a WO# is not full compliance. The best practice is to attach a copy of the WO if you cannot enter the particulars in the log book. Commercial aircraft operate...

The Jetstream has an interesting MM I think it was published by readers digest. It is short and kind of an overview on most issues. I think that the flap system is perhaps the worst I have ever seen with J5 micro switches controling position, selecting a flap position is only a suggestion is this ai...

S
I think the M1/M2 coverage in E and S is one of the stupider things TC has done recently. It is the only place in the world with such a rule for transport category aircraft and I think they just cannot invest in a new machine that adds the extra endorsements to your piece of plastic. Regardless howe...

I understand the problem and think you should be successful if you are not in a big rush about it. You will obviously not get any of the gunslinger types who are climbing the ladder in the endeavours. You are probably correct in an engineer who is looking for a slower pace and change of scenery. Old...

As DOM do you know the operating costs of the fleet? Can you reduce costs improve productivity and reliability over the current situation. What is the value of inventory and staff, the last engine visit? If you know the answers you might be in a possition to reduce the present cost structure and I n...

Wages
Personally I don't see the argument being correct. You earn what you negotiate and if you are not prepared to go to the wages then you take what is offered. Unless you are unions advocate. Some people just prefer to sit at home and complain about low wages while they accept them and do nothing about...

Fuel
The in Afganistan should be relatively good, there might be some deisel in it, but my experience East of there is that it was OK. The tank contamination is more about water and not being able to clear the tanks of this regularly. I don't know what aircraft you operate but over wing fueling locations...

Singapore Licencing
Thanks Plainfixer. You seem to have some experience in Singapore. My time there tends to indicate differently but then I think it depends on when and where. Obviously it appears to conflict if A+P is acceptable and TC is not but I know different contracts generate differing requirements a FEDEX airc...

The operator carries insurance, I have never seen an individual engineer carry liability insurance for the aircraft even when contracting. Insuring your self and your tools etc. is a good idea, be sure you are covered for unscheduled air operations. The responsibility for releasing the aircraft cont...

I was out there this year and there were no real problems. Basically stay away from late night touring and try to have a local advise you on where and when you can be walking around. One of the problems here is that Avmax like to replace parts.
If your inspection technic is not a "replace if not new" format then they don't like you.
It's not a place where people can use their judgement.

Motox don't be so harsh. Everyone can't be a world touring expat. Altough Canadian's are generally the highest earning expat's it takes a good 10 years in Canadian Commercial to qualify. Wingnut what type aircraft is this 16 dollar wage associated with?
Single engine piston then OK
High performance piston twins or twin turbo prop under 12,5 then maybe not so good.
Commercial transport, start looking for a new place to work.

So I was wrong it was a 737-800 they were looking for and 27 GB pounds is not 65 canadian. I am surprised how strong the cdn dollar is. It worked out to 55.48 cdn at today's exchange rate. At that rate in a 90 day contract working the 70 hours they list you earn 46,600.00. I think the tax withholdin...
