Re: McMurray Aviation

Everyone will have different experiences I am sure, but I have found Wade very reasonable over the years. One great advantage with getting your training done in YMM is that the 'training areas' are right outside the control zone. I would have no problem recommending Wade's operation to anyone lookin...

Re: Can a VFR PPL use a plane as transportation in Alberta?

Another thing to consider is where you plan to hangar or tie down your plane. YMM isn't really GA friendly; it's pretty tough to find a spot to leave your plane.

If that doesn't concern you, I have a great 206 outfitted really nicely!

Mid air

Yikes: RIO VISTA, Calif. - A small plane and a helicopter have clipped each other over Northern California, leaving two pilots with minor injuries, authorities said. The six-seat Beechcraft Bonanza crashed Sunday just short of an airport, while the two-seat Robinson R22 helicopter landed in a field ...

Garmin 796

Does anyone have any experience with the Garmin 796? They mention that the unit comes pre-loaded with geo referenced VFR sectionals. Do they come preloaded with Canadian content though. I've looked at Foreflight, but they still do not have the ability to do VFR sectionals as they blame Nav Canada fo...

Hangar question

Hi all, I am looking at renting or leasing out my unused hangar in Vernon BC. I purchased it a couple of years ago with plans to retire there, but that seems to be a bit further out than planned. So for now, it sits empty. Does anyone on here have any experience on what the 'going-rate' is for renti...

Medical renewal

Hi all, Just reading up on CARS (404.4) since my medical is coming up for renewal. My renewal examination is within a day or two of the anniversary of my last medical. Scheduling one where I live doesn't give me many options on dates, so we live with what we get, and work doesn't allow me to travel ...

Then do more spins. If I owned an aircraft that could spin (can only get 1/4 turn out of my Clipper and that takes work) I would spin it every flight that it was inside the utility cat W&B. You must be the exception to the folks I fly with, including my previous instructors. None of them got excite...

Re: That feeling in stomach during Turbulence

Sounds like you are starting to enjoy flying again. That's great! As everyone has said; it's pretty normal what you are feeling. I can actually remember the exact flight that I turned the corner and actually enjoyed it as a student, which was not that long ago and won't be long for you either. For m...

5x5, I think you missed my point... and ya, maybe I exaggerated the surface a bit... Hey it's a story, it's meant to be interesting (the fish was this BIG, really...). There really was a forestry dude sleeping in his truck though! But, my point was that he did a great job teaching me that an a/c can...

Re: Teaching the precautionary landing

Good point Hadley. Most of us are all now taught that airplanes can only land on asphalt or concrete. I was fortunate enough to have an instructor for part of my training that thought outside of the box on some lessons, namely the precautionary landing. Unfortunately for him it didn't win him much f...
