Re: Bearskin (JV) pulls out of YKF/YOW

Word around YOW today was that a meeting was scheduled to happen in YXL tonight, it was suggested that the topic was going to be the announcement of the closure of that base as well.

Re: Bearskin (JV) pulls out of YKF/YOW

I hear they have some obstacles to over come before they can start running the metros on gravel in the north, a performance issue prohibiting their ability to operate them under 704 regs, my understanding is they have to operate them under 703 regs thus limiting the traffic loads to 9 passengers.

You obviously don't know or have not worked for Frank... Free advise, handle his property like you own it, like its the only one will ever get in your lifetime, because if you don't you will find yourself shit canned faster than you can say "I'm a pilot". Frank looks after his equipment, he flies it...

Re: Wasaya Dash 8 Job

My sources tell me the aircraft will be running pax routes in NWO for a short period under the current color scheme and then early 2013 the aircraft will be retro-fitted for geo-survey work and leased to a well known aviation family residing in the YYZ area. The aircraft and crew will be operating u...

Re: CYKF Notam around RIM / Blackberry

You have implied I'm ignorant of the fact that she is also the Queen of Canada, big leap...My humblest apologies to the protocol officer, however the fact remains she is still the Queen of England and she is touring the RIM facility.

Would you have been so smug if I had just typed "The Queen"?

The Queen of England is touring the facility. The equivalent of a US "pop-up" TFR when Obama decides to go somewhere.

Sorry guys I didn't mean to hold anybody up...Loto Max has allowed me to dump the 1970's era crew car that I stole from my last employer and travel the way I've always felt I was entitled to.

Doc isn't that a PT-6 hanging off the nose of the C208 you recently trained on? I have it on good authority the power plant has no idea if its operating in IFR or VFR conditions. It hasn't a clue if it's day or night, and whether it's being managed with one qualified pilot or six monkeys and a bagga...

Re: The times, they are a changing in the Arctic

I worked in places and for outfits that the food mail scenario didn’t work or happen as well. There are a number of catches to the program, there are identified “entry points” for food mail and “air stage” points. Meaning that the airport you work at might not be an entry point for food mail, as wel...

Re: The times, they are a changing in the Arctic

Not quite, The North West Company similar to the Coop store have large buying power and they supply there own stores with product through there own distribution system. Meaning their suppliers deliver the products that they sell directly to the two companies distribution centers, not the actual stor...

Re: The times, they are a changing in the Arctic

First the food mail program has been running for more than 20 years, as far as airlines raising rates. They already get whatever they tendered when the mail contract was tendered. It's whomever is paying for the goods that benefits from the subsidy. If the air carrier quoted a price of $1.50 per kg ...

Re: The times, they are a changing in the Arctic

No I wouldn’t call it a sensitive subject for me; it just bothers me to see uninformed stereotypes perpetuated. On a personal level I think that the food mail program was and is a good idea. In a nutshell the idea is to subsidize the shipping costs of healthier choices into remote communities. The g...

I'll put it another way, being informed before you post goes along ways towards ones credibility. foodmailguide_en.pdf If you take the time to go through the list of eligible and non eligible items you will find that only some types of TV dinners were allowed, your definition of junk food might be d...

Perhaps you should have a little knowledge about the topic before you post uninformed comments. Neither of the items you folks have suggested are eligible for the food mail shipping cost subsidy.
