Re: Westjet Service is Bad
the problem that WestJet now has to live with is that through HYPE along with some delivery they built up an expectation of "Superior Service" and now that they are merely just another Large Carrier, the reality doesn't mirror the image. Today I did a turn to a Caribbean destination. Two guests for...

Re: Turbulent times for WJ ahead?
Will the 767 crews be grooming after an all night crossing? Or maybe they'll send the RP back to do the clean up? Or if they aren't going to groom how do the rest of the crews feel about that? Will they forego 3% in their profit share? All grooming on the 767 is done by contracted groomers- Operati...

Pilots giving 'advice' to FAs re: TA vote
Hi all, I find it quite interesting of the rumour going around that pilots are telling FAs to vote down the TA so that we can "negotiate together." Yes we have similarities such as duty days, deadheads, and a couple others, but comparing our two groups is really apples to oranges. I would rather not...

Re: Packing a lunch for a US turn
I always start with the permitted food and write vague descriptions such as: Quinoa salad (even though it could have like 10 things in it), sandwich, canned fish/chicken.
If I don't have any fresh food I orally tell CBSA: "I don't have any fresh vegetables or meat. It's all processed food."

Re: Moncton (YQM)
Congrats on your wife's retirement. Unfortunately it's going to be awhile until you see an Airbus out there, let alone a Boeing. YQM is converting to an Encore base. That being said, the 37 may still do the first flight out/last flight in. The schedule is TBD/A and they may hire more depending how m...

Re: Functional Assessment Testing for CSA
I'll be honest, when I was initially hired as a CSA we did not have to do this, but I did have to do a test when I applied in flight. The test I did (and I'm sure they are more or less similar): -reach test -grip test -flexibility (reach your toes) -a few push ups/sit ups -balance -safety lifting a ...

Ravensrule: You spent 6 weeks training to be an FA. I spent 7 weeks getting a 737 type rating. Just think, if you would have done just one more week of training, you could have been a pilot. On a serious note, most of us have a lot of respect for what you guys do and the contributions you make to W...

Re: Emergency descent..
It sucks during boarding that an FA can't run off for coffee/food. wah. You can barely get the folks a glass of water on a "short" 1 hour flight. probably because the FAs have taken the water to "stay hydrated" With the Captain's permission we can step off to grab food and therefore delaying ...

Stig I'm not sure what airline experience you have but why would you cap a 800 to 150? You'd be losing revenue from 24 seats. One of our longest legs maybe YVR to CUN or YVR to Hawaii. The fourth flight attendant for one leg would at most cost WJ $350. That would be easily covered by 1 of the 24 se...

Re: 'Twas A Night Before Christmas.
No it has nothing to do with being cold hearted. It has everything to do with people being so short sighted thinking this is greatest gesture ever. "best airline ever" "most generous act I've seen from an airline" "Christmas miracle from WJ" This is what the general public is saying! As stated, sho...

Re: Not everyone is happy over at WJ
Ok while officially not a 'pay cut' because we won't be making less than present wages. It is a pay reduction for those FAs that haven't reached the highest salary band. The previous highest hourly pay was $45.36 and the newest highest hourly pay is now $43.23. I'm at the 4.5 year mark at this point...

I was a CSA in YOW for 3.5 years (now an FA) and know that our summer schedule is starting in May. I don't have any info because I'm out of the loop, however I think you should hear something in the next couple weeks because training is roughly 2 weeks.

Thanks for the kudos. I'm an FA and while we don't get j/s privileges, I have flown standby/interline/ZED on numerous airlines and have been treated like gold from the crew. I like to return the favour to other crew members on my flights.
Cheers.

Didn't we have a issue regarding medical O2 last fall? I remember seeing stuff posted downstairs in YYC around the TAC/CSA area.
