Re: New TA?
A couple of bits about the CWIPP: 1) CWIPP currently has about $270 million under management. Once all ACPA members are on this plan, those assets will be closer to $1 billion. So I am fairly confident that they wanted ACPA business too, rather than just the other way around. 2) CWIPP was suggested ...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
TC recently published its new Fatigue Management Regulations for comment and review. Does anyone one have any thoughts or predictions on how the changes may affect the hiring needs/practices at AC and the other big guys? http://www.canadagazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p1/2017/2017-07-01/html/reg2-eng.php AC's...

Re: New Hire Equipment
we lack trip or duty rigs like in the states It changes if you are flying to the states? Is this at mainline and rouge? Or do you just mean the US airlines have it... Mainline has protection for time away from base and for a day of work. It's not perfect, but in theory it prevents the 3 day 5 hour ...

Re: I heard there were direct entry ERJ Captains?
The new hire could bid to EMJ captain on the next possible equipment bid, costing them their single narrow body course right. The airplane is being replaced, so either they'll never get trained, or hold the position very briefly, get force reduced to a standard junior spot, and now have limited opt...

Learning all sorts of things here. They changed a bunch of stuff last year, and one of them is time and a half for open time awards (steps 1-2): 74.10.01.01 says time and half.
Good to know about the scheduled day off though.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Not to let facts cloud a good argument but... 1) "Low DBM" months at rouge are still paid 77.5 hours. 2) Any day off you come in to work is paid a minimum of 4.5 hours, 1.5 time on top of your 77.5 min guarantee. So if you are blocked at 25 hours, you come in to do an Orlando turn on a day off, you ...

Y class, with upgrade if space is available after all upgrade coupons / elite status / managers etc have been upgraded.
A great deal of the YYZ flying involves an overnight deadhead to Europe, then operate back 24 hours later.
YVR flying tends to have fewer long haul deadheads.

Re: Over / Under ICAO rule
Thanks for the link. It shows the change in FAA regs that allowed flying past 60. It references the ICAO rules and guidance (including putting a sunset clause on any age limitation in the USA, should the ICAO rule change), but doesn't actually have the ICAO rule in there. Since there seems to be a f...

There may or may not be a BFOR, that is the question that was referred back to the Tribunal by the Federal court with the note that, just because the Tribunal doesn't understand the evidence, doesn't mean that it can ignore it. I would take a closer look at Capt. Duke's presentation regarding schedu...

Bottom EMJ reserve have been flying every day on call for the last 8-10 months, which translates into 18 or 19 days per month, depending on if it is a 30 or 31 day block month. Mostly min credit flying, so you will fly out...on the last on-call day of the month. Guys do commute, but it is pretty tou...

Proper: ACPA has a letter that says that all aircraft with a seating capacity of 76-110 seats will be flown by pilots on the ACPA seniority list. I am sure that ALPA has a similar clause to keep Georgian, CMA etc. from flying -8s. When the Q400 was announced (with a seating capacity of 80), it certa...

Re: AC is hiring 51 pilots apparently
Last round the emails for actually inviting folks to interviews were written in a variety of font sizes and colours , which caused most email servers to classify them as "junk". No idea if it will be the same this time, but it makes sense to check all of your mail to ensure that you don't miss the c...

Re: CHRT Remedy Ruling?
All other arguments aside, I find it sad that the ability of someone to continue working past their expected age of retirement in a relatively easy and well remunerated position is being called a human right. On the same page as not losing one's job for being a certain race or gender or sexual orien...

Re: No more Age 60 forced Retirement at Air Canada ???
How about letting 60+ folks keep their assigned position and bidding priority, but inserting anyone over 60 into the position group? Since it isn't about money and all. PG is an arbitrary assignment to those hired after a certain date anyway.

Hopefully the compensation / damages awarded to the complainants will be adjusted for the age discrimination that got them to their present positions. Why should someone get to claim age discrimination only when it applies to them? Had those ahead of the complainants not been forced to retire at 60,...

I will take a stab at it: If you are sick if required, and the company doesn't require your services, they don't credit you with being sick that day. How is that efficient, you ask? Well, assuming a reserve pilot gets paid by the hour and has sick days that are paid time, if the company doesn't requ...
