Re: Air Transat interview

I think the first thing they want to assess at the interview is ''do I want to spend 8 hours with this guy in the flight deck'' They'll ask you to elaborate on the progress of your career so far.... the rest is pretty basic conversation. Nothing to worry about ;) Good luck and remember, a smile goes...

Re: 737NG - ENGINE & WING CONTROL CB

Did maintenance write down the ATA reference when they released the plane? Probably went like this; "C/B re-set. Wing anti-ice checked "servicable" as per AMM 30-11-00." Was I close? :) That's exacly it ! I havent flown in a while now so I don't know if they narrowed down the source of the problem....

737NG - ENGINE & WING CONTROL CB

Hi, I've had this recurring problem on the 738 lately and would like a mechanic's input. The circuit breaker labeled Engine & Wing Control at position P18-3 A6 has tripped a couple of times over the last few weeks. Initial symptom is a failed light test on the anti ice panel. Both Wing Anti Ice valv...

Re: Instructor Fell Asleep

Part of what he should be teaching you is when and how to make the decision not to go flying. If he was THAT tired he should be responsible enough to say "sorry not today".

Re: Instructor Fell Asleep

Yes you should be concerned. Especially with only six hours in under your belt. Your instructor is there to teach but also to prevent a possible situation from degenerating.

This is not an instructor that has your back.
This might even be worth reporting to the CFI of your flight school.

Re: Air Transat to bring in Foreign Pilots next winter.

If you mean they hired of couple of ''foreign'' anglophones from Ontario in the last hiring batch, then yes, the rumour is true.

Good reporting there RodgerDodger.

Re: Air Labrador Twin Otter Hard Landing

Jeta1, there's a big difference between qualified and experienced. Flying in this part of the country can be challenging and I think you need to "work up to it" I flew the twin for Air Lab years ago and Capt took controls in challenging weather regularly at first. The opposite is true too, I gave co...

Transat to lease Canjet's 37s ?!

Hi,
I've heard that Transat is planning on dry leasing some of Canjet's 737s ? Can anybody provide any details ?

I know they have delays receiving the planned 4 permanent 737s so I guess this was a temporary solution...

Any insight would be appreciated.

Cheers

Canjet to train Transat pilots

As much as 24 Transat are starting ground school for the 737 on November 4th. Training is to take place in Montreal (Canjet or Transat facilities?) After their training, those pilots will fly with Canjet for the winter. Seems like a good way to avoid layoffs at Transat and meet the demand at Canjet.

Re: Text book reject at MAN - A330

Can't get credit for reverse thrust on takeoff performance calculations but the drill (ours anyways) is max reverse, max brake ....
Then if no reverse thrust is available to an engine the FO calls out NO REVERSE ON #1 (2)

Re: pascan

Re: Air Transat - 738 Or A320 This Year?

I sure hope you are right skyismine !

However, you should definatly tell us a bit more about your sources.
We are all waiting to find out and we were told the BOD would decide on Apr 3rd. From there I wouldn't be surprised if we had to wait a couple more weeks before they make an announcement.

Re: Sunwing/Canjet fleet and foreign pilots winter 2012-2013

All this nonsense 'coz a few French Transat weenies got laid off. Tough. The foreigners are just doing what Candians do all over the world, and good luck to them. Shame on you Wallflower. You bring disgrace to this thread and to aviation. Spit on guys who lost their job. That's low in ANY language....

+1 for TFTMB Heavy
They are shooting themselves in the foot !
Price-fixing is illegal... but I think everybody in this business would be better off if they actually did.

Gas companies do it
Cell phone companies (cable and internet) do it
Why can't we ....

Re: Canjet going under (again)?

And let's not forget that Canjet has done TREMENDOUS damage to Air Transat's reputation in the past few years (not attaking anybody here, this is out of pilot's hands). So this issue, among others, is obviously a factor in their decesion to think about brining the flying in-house. What TREMENDOUS d...

Re: Canjet going under (again)?

I don't know about ''flawed'' business model. Canjet does have all of it's eggs in the same basket with Transat being it's reason for existance right now. But IMP Group doesn't have its eggs in the same basket ... there's the diffrence. And OceanGal ... you say that Transat employees are missinforme...

Isn't it amazing that as soon as this post was placed that Gilles hasn't said a word. I guess he's waiting to see how this will affect the pilots of Transat, oops, I mean all Canadian pilots. I really don't see the pertinence or the relevance of this post in this thread ?! Perhaps this guy was eage...
