Re: Layoffs
Heard from an MLO that only 70 of the old boys took the early retirement package.....thanks boys Likely wont be much training resulting from the bid in April. If more layoffs happened Oct 1, the training cost would likely be quite large and would have to be taken into account much more than right no...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I've also heard nothing about freezing hiring in the near future....or any reductions on the max for that matter. Murray said to a group after the road show last week that unless the Max is not back by the end of the summer that there will not be any reductions. He said very bluntly that if he start...

Re: West coast basing
That may have been true last year, but the latest bid is showing openings only on the 737 FO list in YVR, and a handful at the bottom of the 320 FO and the 777 FO lists. Everything else is full for the time being. It's in constant flux to likely will change again soon.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Hello ! Maybe I did not phrase my query clearly . Does the posting of over 900 slots in the recent Bid mean that there are that many unmanned Pilot positions across all fleets & ranks at AC ? Or that many new hirees required till the time factored in the plan which could be 12-24 months . The time ...

From that CBC report... The pilots, unfamiliar with the MCAS system, may have been helpless to respond and unable to bring its nose back up. The stab trim cutout switches are checked for position in the first flight, "before start checklist to the line" by every crew, before every first flight of t...

Re: Air Canada grounds Boeing Max 8s until at least July 1
Pretty bold statement for someone who clearly doesn't work at AC. Year 1 FO here and I will take home $3200 with a 6% ESOP match, which is another $280 or something like that.JohnnyHotRocks wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 8:03 pm Paid vacation my a$$
FOs are now bringing home $1200 a month due to lack of work.

Well they're not super unreasonable...if you told them you're going to get some new glasses, you might just have to come back and get re-tested. Or they might wonder why you've been flying around without glasses that are legal...

Sounds like they got everything they asked for. I assume they'll have to hold a vote for the pilots, but if we get everything we wanted, dont see much reason not to

Re: Cannabis Policy ???
The FOM supersedes whatever transport comes out with anyways....so AC can definitely ban it for their pilots. If companies can say a guy drilling a hole in the ground in northern alberta cant smoke pot, what makes you think the boys upstairs at AC cant make that same call..?

Don't be surprised if you dont hear back for a little while. They're not running any more courses until september, and the May 14 course only had 12 people in it, as opposed to the 40 in all previous classes this year.

Definitely print it out....read the instructions on your invitation for your interview carefully! You should have it certified by all previous employers, they did not need to see the certification from my current employer, as they called them for a reference check.
