Re: Amateur Pilot Floatplane Options
As many posters have stated if you want any appreciable amount of performance and useful load than definately stick to staight floats. I am surprised it has not been mentioned but what about a turbo charged cessna 206 with staight wipline 3500 or aerocet 3500 floats. I think a few outfitters in Alas...

Re: Best Small Bush Plane
Piper PA-18 supercubs are expensive for a basic two place fabric airplane. Perhaps a piper PA-11 or like Maple said a Maule might be a more affordable option. Do you plan on using the aircraft on floats or skis? Do not let taildragger aircraft intimidate you. Before the mainstream use of training wi...

Re: Single Otters over represented in fatal accidents?
Excellent post driving rain, I am not sure why the OMNR decided to stop using the single otter it is a great aircraft and a true workhorse. The twin otter is good but on floats the prop hangs over the dock, it also burns double the fuel but does not haul double the load. The single swine will haul a...

CS, what is your opinion of Mystery Marvel Oil being added to the engine oil and fuel of small Lycoming and Continentals? I have been using it for about 150 hours in a Lycoming 320 with great results so far. Some AME's seem to swear by this stuff, and yet others have not even heard of the product.

Re: Single Turbo Otter Info
I like to feather the otter and coast into the dock in most situations. In high winds blowing onto or alongside the dock beta is a handy tool to use. If the wind is offshore I always feather. Why? If a gust should catch your tail you are endangering people on the dock. Also your engine is toast if yo...

I just ordered some books myself. I used vipilot.com. Prices are very reasonable and the shipping is supposed to be quick.

PPL
Was wondering if anyone knows of any flying clubs that can do PPL in a very short time frame, lets say 2 months. I live in Northern Ontario in a very small town and would be willing to travel to Manitoba or even Saskatchewan.

I could be wrong, but I think the only commercially owned Garrett van on floats is owned by Talon Air in Alaska. You could try giving them a phone call.

No accomadation. The average day is about 10 hours long and is mostly flying fisherman to various lodges and outpost camps with the odd mining exploration trip thrown in.

Adding the allison turbine would also increase the performance.wingsnorth wrote:Aerocet 3500's are the cats meow. A 206 done up with an upper inducted I0-550, wing tip extentions and 3500's will easily outperform a stock 185. The only better performing float on a 206 would be Wipline 4000's.

Found this on wikipedia. In November 2007, Antilles Seaplanes of Gibsonville, North Carolina announced it was restarting production of the Grumman Goose.[1] PWC PT6A-34 turboprops will replace the original Pratt & Whitney piston engines,[1] and the airframe and systems will be updated, increasing th...

I found this on previous forum since everyone is wondering what that rampie pay is. And it's not the hard work, or getting yelled at that makes people want to quit buffalo. You'll find that at any job. You really have to work there to realize why some people hate anything and everything green with a...
