Re: Flair in YYZ/YVR

OK, as a past case study, do you think AC should have been allowed supersede Porter in YTZ as the dominant carrier (they certainly tried hard enough, or at least to weaken their position)? So you're okay with a privately held company holding a near monopoly over an infrastructure that belongs to Ca...

Psych and cog evals at express carriers now for new hires? Wonder if this means AC is gearing up towards an official flow through program barring applicants from express instead of coming into express and so-to-speak be stuck? Can anyone else confirm or deny this info? Thanks The change at Express ...

Numbers closer to 1400/250/300/75. Jazz fleet increasing. GGN fleet increasing. SKY fleet stable. EVAS..... who knows. June 2017 - 117/28/25/? The Jazz fleet is increasing? I thought Jazz was reducing from 120 some odd fins to 86 by 202...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

https://www.pilotcareercentre.com/Air-Carrier-PCC-Profile/4/Air%20Canada Air Canada Pilots are primarily drawn from Air Canada Express pilots (Jazz, SkyRegional, Air Georgian, EVAS) through the Pilot Mobility Agreement (PML). The most recent PML consists of only Jazz pilots. The PML in 2017-2019 wil...

Re: Aviation Degree vs. University Degree

The main issue is that AC is looking for the fact that you can work to a high workload of learning. I think several type ratings along with favorable PPC records and no fails indicate that you can handle a high workload of learning. An initial course in the 705 environment isn't exactly roses and d...

Re: FlyDubai 737 (Rostov-on-Don, RU)

If they experienced the illusions posted in your link and controlled it by pitching down, that's CFIT - no? Loss of spatial and situational awareness/orientation that lead to a reaction which flew a perfectly airworthy aircraft into the ground. I guess it can be argued that any CFIT accident will ha...

Re: FlyDubai 737 (Rostov-on-Don, RU)

How does a modern airliner come down at such a steep angle? http://aviationknowledge.wikidot.com/aviation:somatogravic-illusion Not saying that this is what happened - but this could result in an extreme nose down attitude without stalling the aircraft. You answered my rhetorical question by postin...

Re: FlyDubai 737 (Rostov-on-Don, RU)

How does a modern airliner come down at such a steep angle? I would have thought a micro burst meant you'd stall into the ground, not nose first. Unless they pitched down to recover the stall and came down plummeting into the ground. Can't imagine the last thoughts going through the crews mind :( sa...

Re: Rewriting the IATRA / ATPL for a higher score ?

Legally you're not obligated to give anyone any info about your scores. But we all know that approach can always turn off employers. In my career so far, they were more concerned about my personality and experiences than they were a score on an ATPL exam. Especially when you already have the license...

Re: Getting hired

"Once the PML has been exhausted, AC will introduce the FPMA which will apply to all of its contracted regional carriers, including without limitation Jazz and Classic Airline, on a proportional pilot headcount basis." Re: Getting hired

Besides "rumours" there's no indication as to what the details of this PML V2 will actually be when/if it goes into effect. So there again, at best, this could be a hiring attraction for the regional airlines. Come here on the basis that when V2 happens, you'll possibly get to AC. Clearly anyone goi...

Re: Getting hired

Loopa, you've spouted this misinformation before and frankly it's pure conjecture, the AC hiring, regardless of what you might think will be 80% from the express airlines for at least the next 10 years. This is written into the contract, written, not some execs Twitter account, not a rumour you hea...

Re: Getting hired

It's a brilliant move (by management). Pilots will be screwed by lousy wages at an AC Express carrier for let's say ~ 4 years give or take then if you get chosen to go to AC you get another 4 years of lousy flat pay. So assuming you get hired at a regional and put 4 years in you will be at least 8 ...
