Re: It's all about the numbers

Paid by the hour, never a bonus, 8 to 5, overtime rates after 8 hours. Performance at this place is not tracked, union shop but if you are dogging it your co workers will gang up on you....or avoid you. All aircraft are our own, if its broke.....we fix it, on to the next.

Re: Manitoba Govt Air Services to be Privatised

Yes so I see they are a huge multi corporation, seems they have the know how to operate such an operation. Good luck to the folks on the hangar floor that were all let go. Hopefully they get hired back on.

Re: Manitoba Govt Air Services to be Privatised

Never heard of this Babcock. I disagree that the "majority of Canadian provinces use private carriers for all wildfire suppression services". I count Sask, Ontario, Quebec and NFLD, and until now Manitoba which made 5. B.C. Ab, Territories and NB are private. I really can't see this being a win for ...

Re: AMS (Aircraft Maintenance Systems) Tracking Software

The old guys ( this would include me ) have no more trouble than doing a electronic attendance, or an expense claim sheet....actually AMS maybe be easier. It was initially "designed" by an AME for his own shop and it has since expanded. I think Richard sold AMS to some big international firm awhile ...

Re: Brake Fluid

Maybe the ATF is easier to obtain than 5606 or Royco, shouldn't be though as most airports will have the stuff. I was at a field in the U.S. (west Yellowstone) though that had only fuel, nothing else (we needed nitrogen).

Re: AMS (Aircraft Maintenance Systems) Tracking Software

We have been using AMS for 6 years with minimal glitches.....nothing that shut us down. It is only as good as the information going into it. We aren't using AMS to its full potential......the old guys still like paper but what we are doing with AMS has been good. Search function works well, I like h...

Re: Took off with rudder locked

The factory style rudder lock keeps the rudder in a faired position, can't remember what A.S. uses but for our Commanders the rudder lock slides in and moves rudder full left. Very obvious if left in place when you try to remove the brakes. A bit of redesigning the lock to move it full one way was t...

Re: AME Work Schedules

During fire season, April to September we work 10 on 5 off. Nice to have 5 off but 10 can get long. Non fire season is Monday to Friday, 8 to 5. Could never do shift work again.....those days are done for me.

Re: Ice Pilots Season 5 discussion...

I like watching it to get a glimpse of Joe's car collection. Saw an early 70s green Camaro in the corner on show #2. Seems out of place for his collector car of preference, which is 1950s models.

Mayor Mel told me this story also. Said that some guys in suits came to his dad's door with a briefcase of money, looking for some Cat work to be done.
