Re: Iskwew Air

Having looked at the info about you on the internet I like your enthusiasm and your energy to get things done. I have been around aviation for a very long time and it is nice to see someone working toward something they want. I copied this because it will be your biggest headache as Canada is so ove...

Re: Air Canada Tokyo Incident

Lightchop. I am waiting for you to back up this untrue statement you made about me and my career. Easy to do when you're retired, have nothing to worry about and have already burned all your bridges in Canada. That statement is way beyond acceptable because it is untrue, so show proof of what you ar...

Re: Air Canada Tokyo Incident

Really? . ./C.W.E./Cat Driver? Is that what makes a comment any more or less valid?Or gives an individual worth? My comment re using my real name was aimed at Rockie who called me a coward and I said at least I don't hide behind a made up name, is that against the rules?. I posted earlier what I th...

Re: Air Canada Tokyo Incident

Look at the bright side of these events pelmet. Air Canada and Rockie do give us some interesting stuff to examine and maybe learn from. Remember this is an aviation forum and these events are something that gives us things to examine and maybe figure out what not to do. I am waiting to see if we fi...

Re: Handling of power on take off and landing.

No, the point was to not be hard on the plane. It's probably more common in the Bush. O.K. I see what you meant now,it is just the way you feel more in control by using two hands to control the airplane. I also have done a lot of bush flying earlier in my career and was more comfortable using only ...

Re: Handling of power on take off and landing.

Bashing through the snow in an otter, 2 hands. An F1 driver doesn't use one hand, you get faster and more precise inputs with 2, /quote] I don't recall having to be that aggressive with an airplane because of the snow conditions, was it hard on the airplane? , but you knew that already. Not from my...

Re: C-47 Takeoff Groundloop and Crash

The pilot (a very highly experienced DC-3 fellow) did lift the tail as the airspeed came alive, by pushing gently with one hand, while he set power with the other - no problem. The tail was nicely up by 40 knots, and the aircraft was lifted off at 82 knots. Exactly PilotDar. Thanks for posting that...

How many DC3's are operated single pilot Victory?

I have done DC3 training and type ratings in several different countries and never saw one operated single pilot.

Also which seat do you sit in when flying it solo?

Re: How far do you lean while on the ground before takeoff

That’ll be because you always leaned the mixture on the ground :) Like everything in aviation leaning the fuel mixture varies from airplane to airplane, some of the little four bangers tend to be more prone to plug fowling than others and of course the altitude at which you are operating is also a ...

The aerial pesticide license came into effect in the early 1960's in Ontario. I was operating an aerial crop spraying business in Ontario when the license requirement was initiated. I went to Guelph Agricultural College for the license and was the first person to be issued with one in Ontario the li...

Re: How far do you lean while on the ground before takeoff

After you get the takeoff clearance is not a fun time to realize the plugs are all fouled! Well if the plugs fouled bad enough to cause a power loss you could always reject the take off. I have been trying to remember if I ever had a situation where the plugs became fouled during ground operations ...

That is a lot of money to spend to gamble on making a living flying airplanes.

How much more did it cost you to go the college route and would you advise others to go the college route?

Re: DC-3 / C-46 Ramp Slave

I sense there's a couple of managers on this forum, questioning why people who spent 100k on education became self aware of their worth. Does it cost 100k now to become a commercial pilot? As to their worth that varies from pilot to pilot, but essentially they usually end up getting paid what they ...

Re: DC-3 / C-46 Ramp Slave

The requirements of being a pilot have definitely changed over the years. Just because pilots used to train on conventional aircraft back in the day, doesn't make it better or worse than the current methods I guess I was just born at the wrong time and when I learned to fly we did not have all the ...

You are making almost 200,000 Canadian flying a sea plane?
