Re: Dr. Lower Passed Away - Thunder Bay

Wow , how time flies . I never thought the last time I saw him would be the last time . He was such a kind and gentle person . I feel very lucky to have met such a decent man . His degree hanging on the wall was made of parchment . There was a great story to that . Made from a sheep he said . At 92 ...

Re: Steep Turns At Low Altitude

Just go watch the crop sprayers doing hammer head turns all day long , if you want to see how easy steep turns at low level are done . Cranking and banking at ten feet , pay attention for wires and poles . Getting paid to have fun :)

Re: Nanchang CJ-6 down in Victoria BC

Landing gear up ,I would take a runway over dirt . If you catch an edge or something digs in hard into the dirt, or find a ditch you can cause more damage to the aircraft and the you may experience side loaded rotational g forces that will snap your neck . If the gear does not come down on my aircra...

Re: Spins before solo?

The AC -61-67C answers the first part of your question , the second part is usually because the approach speeds of gliders are much closer to the stall than certified training aircraft .

Re: Spins before solo?

One question you might get asked on The Oral portion of a CFI ride is : When would you recommend spinning an airplane deliberately ? And by spinning I mean a fully established spin , tucked right in ? Slow airspeed slow rate of descent , Axis of rotation stable in the vertical . Hint 1; Stearman mai...

Re: Spins before solo?

Big F difference between incipient spin and a fully developed spin . Most instructors would struggle to recover from a fully developed spin . I have flown with two instructors that had issues with fully developed spins . The first one lost a leg in a spin they could not get out off in Cessna that go...

Some flat earthers believe the moon landings were fake as well .
Technically feasible to fake even with early technology , but actually cheaper to do in reality .

Take the red pill :)

Re: VIDEO : Student Pilot Crashes the Cessna on touchdown (Nov 2019)

I am not a big fan of only teaching flapless approaches to pre-solo students , to solo them earlier than students who are shown how to use flaps . Flaps can be fun . Lift flaps , drag flaps when to use flaps . When can I use flaps for lift and when can I use flaps for drag ? Drag and lift demonstrat...

If you are going to land with your feet on the brakes ,make sure you apply them equally so you just need new tires . Left brake bit harder than the right side causing the swerve as indicated by the slip skid indicator and loud chirp from the tire grabbing on the left . Off centreline , missed aim po...

Re: Attitude indicator for IFR/Night

Make sure he does lots of partial panel exercises and can sing Buddy Holly and the big boppers songs , they both died in an aircraft with just such an attitude indicator equipped airplane . That said , when was the last time the attitude indicator was serviced or overhauled at a proper repair shop ?...

Re: The Future?

Good luck selling tickets on the Hindenburg 2.0 Containment of a highly explosive gas might concern me as I have yet to see any aircraft that has not had fuel leaking issues . A few drips of hard to ignite kerosene is only a hazard to small amphibian breeding habitat . Hydrogen gas leaks would have ...
