Re: Alkan Air?
Its Alkan's call. In their post they specifically want someone that can upgrade to cappy quickly. Maybe they don't have that? This is a first rate operation with excellent equipment and employees.. you name it really. I know for a fact that they do upgrade/ mentor from within.. but sometimes that ju...

Re: Bonds
Look why you are being bonded! In some cases, not all, the bond is there for a reason.. Some companies are just looking out for themselves.. Others know you will be unhappy and use it as a way to keep you around while enduring a piss poor work environment

Re: When to move on
little off topic.. but i'll let fly anyways.. So many people here are focused on the end goal to justify being miserable, jaded, etc in the meantime. Because, you need to pay your dues. I'm more about the journey to get to that end goal. Why would you want to be miserable while trying to get to the ...

Re: Texting and Flying??
No sextation in flight. However, I think the serile cockpit rule is good to follow. For me, even on a long flight in the middle of BFN the tunes come off the zulu before TOD or when loaded up whatever comes first. The phone/ bluetooth can be useful with comm failures, re-routes, ordering fuel, diver...

Re: TCU(towering cumulus) penetration from airlines perspect
I'm new to the world of flight levels and IFR and the light to meduim weight turboprop world. However... Here's what I've observed.. Even a storm topped to 12,000 can throw a good ammount lightening and hail and cause you to pick up a healthy ammount of ice ..FAST. (I've seen it) If a TCU is that is...

Not to hijack the original thread.. But: Friend of mine got a job out east today. This individual was told to supply their own aircraft for the checkout, help out loading the aircraft and undergo some specialized training. (I'm trying to protect this person by speaking in generalities). This was the...

hmm... Been there done that. If you do walk expect to have your name trashed .. ROYALLY. The aviation rumor mill will twist the story around 180 degrees... and you will come out looking like the bad apple. Expect ZERO backing from your peers, other CP's etc. The first question when you phone up a ne...

Re: Entry Level Jobs in Vancouver?
Yea, Entry level jobs and Vancouver don't exist in the same sentence. Companies to try are as follows: Orca Airways (up to 1 year ground wait ), CAC, Pacific Coastal (non-flying- gets your face around the s. side), R.S. and associates (see pasco), Hawkair, KD. - All these jobs aside from CAC/ Orca w...

Re: Heli-skiing company sues VANOC, police
Recently visited Vancouver.. I think all of you out there should be filing the biggest lawsuit in Canadian history.. It seems like VANOC has things completely ass backwards. The olympics are supposed to BRING business.. not hurt it. The olympic security is a sham.. Yup, you guys have Griffon helicop...

Re: Getting your first job
I've been out of the float scene for a while.. But what I remember was trying to get hired on floats with low time was a pain in the arse, and I had 50 hours on floats. Your most likely to get on trapping minows or working for a lodge. With lodges the insurance is lower as the aircraft are privately...

Loopa,
I have completely disagreed with alot of your posts. But I am with you 120% on that one.
People have become sheeple... completely unwilling to stand up for their rights. Instead, they take everything the politicians say at face value and eat it up..

Human garbage and STL, sometimes I think I sound like a total nutbar with that stuff. But honestly, i can't see any of this doing any good. I'm with Cat/ Michael P. If we aren't in a police state why is there the threat of " lethal foce" via a CF18 or a Griffon helicopter? Why is the military closing a crosswind runway to park its CF18's and putting up massive blinding lights facing the tower/ TDZ of one of the runway's at one of canada...

ehbudy,
You missed one thing...
Upon quitting Carrot dangling fishing lodge the said pilot would have his/ her name blasted in the industry for being a "quitter", having a lack of work ethic, and not " sticking out the season."
Thats a wrap...

Re: Pilots Working The Ramp
I've worked multiple docks, ramps, counters etc.. It takes someone about a week or less to learn the ins and outs of a company..Other than that.. nothing really major to learn. I see no issues with working the ramp / dock when its done like this: Pilot works the ramp for 1-3 weeks.. From Week two or...
