Re: Phones ON Phones OFF ?

I totally agree that cell phones should be off for take-off and landing. The problem, as with so much nowadays, is that things have gone to the extreme. For example, why must I turn my eBook off for take-off and landing? I guess I should be thankful that I don't have to turn off my digital watch.......

Re: Interpolating

Now you want to find out what is .150 of the way between 915 and 1000 in the 10C column. So you take the difference between the two: 1000-915 = 85. Multiply that by 0.15... =12.75, or round to 13. Add that to the lower chart value, in this case, 915, and you get 938. So far so good? Your extremely ...

Re: 200/3,000/10

Is it solved? Does that mean that it applies at YTH/YYQ or similar aerodromes, or not? Is there an air traffic control unit in operation at YTH? I'm not sure the answer, and I tend to change my opinion every couple of days or so. Haven't had a CADORs issued for any of the days I decided it didn't ap...

Re: Maybe I'm missing something here Re: Medical Validity

Here is the root of the confusion.

Your medical is valid until the first day of the 13th month. It is not valid on the first day of the 13th month.

Thus the expiry date is actually the last day of the 12th month.

Re: Question about upgrading to Captain

There have been many pilots at my company who have not had an ATPL when they first moved left seat in a King Air 200. They are expected to be close to the requirements and to have the exams written. With the majors hiring so many lately this is a trend which is not likely to stop in the near future.

Re: IFR Question: Alternate Weather Minima

Say the WX was however OVC002, now you are below landing minima and are therefore banned to conduct this approach (let alone fly to it as an alternate) as it would now be willful negligence. Huh? Banned from conducting an approach because the ceiling is below minimum? As for flying to it as an alte...

Re: Outdated compass deviation card deferrable?

If the maintenance was completed, why would you need to defer it at all? The information that would be on the compass card displayed in the aircraft should also have been entered into either the Journey Log/Tech records or both. Photocopy that if you need to use it - otherwise know where it is when ...

How about updating CAR 724.115, section 22. The fact that the regulations dealing with use of RNAV/GPS/FMS are 13 years old is ludicrous.

Re: VOR approaches in NDA

Set the course as it appears on the plate. Your HSI doesn't know whether it is in slaved mode or not. It will properly indicate your position relative to the radial that you have your needle pointed at. Since the VOR itself is aligned to true, and the plate is in true - if you want to fly the track ...

Of course it is us. The good news is that these billboards have to be a lot cheaper than the TV ads by such businesses without competition such as the LCBO in Ontario, MPI in Manitoba, BC's public insurance, etc, etc, etc.......

Maybe the Authorized Person who signed your SPP had relocated from BC to AB and brought his stack of SPPs with him.

The name brings to mind the word:

in·sid·i·ous Adjective /inˈsidēəs/

1. Proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects: "the insidious effects of stress".
2. Treacherous; crafty: "an insidious alliance".

Seems like an unusual name for a company.

If you have any skills at Excel, or the like, make one yourself. First of all it will be free. Secondly, you can customize it however you want, and change it whenever you like. I would recommend that it be made in such a way that you can print it off easily, with page totals for each page printed. T...

Not sure where the company will be expecting new hires for YFB to live - more likely to be YOW than YFB - current YFB employees can live anywhere in North America, but things might have changed.

Won't be easy to get a Lear spot - especially left seat.
