Re: French in Radio

Is this my imagination, or some posts got deleted again here? Those between the 25th and the 29th?

I double-checked, and that appears to be the case. Oh well, any alternative opinion is not welcome here, got it. Well, I am bidding farewell. Thank you guys, cheers.

Re: english is no longer the universal language of aviation

Well, it is inevitable wether in this format or a different one. Only a question when. It still does not mean that the VFR goes away. But it will mean that a guy taking 5 minutes to give the world an update about his position and intentions, and plans for the evening asking for the conflicting aircr...

Re: French in Radio

One language of communication is key to prevent accidents. Perhaps. The reality however is that people speak different languages today across the globe. And we won't see a single language that is understood by all in our lifetimes. And if and when it does happen chances are it won't be English anyw...

Re: Working in Europe?

If you have the Russian citizenship and can speak the language it might just the ticket. Two kids of my friends, got their CPL's here - MIFR, about 250 hours literally fresh from the CFC and paid for their A320 type rating. With just a bit of wondering around got their SO jobs flying A320 with two d...

Re: Mountains and Winds

I got WX briefing, it looked ok with some expected turbulence. It was Thursday last week, I left CYPK with no surface winds at all and went to CYGB looking at the wind aloft getting from 20 knot progressively to 25, 30, 35 as I progressed towards to Taxeda. OK, I thought I practiced landings at 30 d...

A common sense would dictate to develop a traffic control system that does not require human language. Common sense unfortunately is not common.

because it is a whole lot more convenient to pull/push the airplane with the blades are horizontal? And the prop is not in the way of the wheel bar to steer the airplane in/out of the hangar?

Re: Sea Land Air CZBB

Well, being able to learn and fly on the Diamonds versus the 152/172 is enough of a differentiation in itself. I chose SLA when I was looking to start flying for exactly the same reason. Did two fam flights one at PFC one at SLA and that was it. I did end up walking away from SLA and buying my own p...

Re: Mistakes not to be repeated

During my PPL training, one of the first "local x-country" solos ran into a windy and bumpy approach I never experienced before and was a bit too much for my skills at that point. Could not stabilize the approach, just before landing decided to overshoot and with all the bumps/distractions flipped t...

The other thing is just walk into any of the schools operating on the off-shore money and listen to the language being spoken..it certainly isn't English. The majority of folks around are not English speakers, at best these are ESL myself included. So English was more of a deterrent, not helping to...

Now we have a dual GNS430 and EDM luditte! I know! Did you check out the strikefinder? Neat stuff, but its only got a monochrome display... I think you're complete screwed! And it won't even overlay on your HSI! Nothing short of complete instrumentation on an HUD will cut it these days. I'm sure th...

Seriously, don't bother with the kind of guy you met. It is not worth your time. And I have not seen many of the type you described though. But I do notice that the pilots are an opinionated lot. But there is an awful lot of really nice guys as well.

Oh, I have nothing against the colonel. I jumped in after a lot of people presented an idea that I found wrong, and I explained why. Of course, my explanation is open for debate. This is why I posted it on a public forum. So, I'm open to discuss any valid point, and I'll ignore any personal attack....

I ride a 250cc dirt bike. Has no instrumentation, just pure raw affair. Who am I to say that a nice GoldWing or a BMW tourer is any less fun? Same idea. Why is it when I'm having fun with my low tech does that guy on his gold wing (or watever is shinier, or newer, or whatever) always feel the need ...

I am finding it to be hard to get excited about advancements in my professional field, it has started to look all the same some time ago to me too. Try changing what you do, this seems to work. 20 PSI error, wow!

I own this da20, so it is not really used for training. At least the thing with the starter grinding the gears is not happening.
