Employee Standby Travel Line
I have been trying to call the Employee Standby Travel Line for several weeks to no avail. It goes directly to a busy signal. Oddly enough, it does answer outside of the regular operating hours, reminding the caller that the center is closed. Does anybody know if 1-800-413-1113 is still being used o...

Re: Pilots contract
Mark my words - Air Canada pilots will have nothing to do with the LCC. Management will use a third party airline's certificate and then codeshare it back for ticketing. I can't see any way a contract can protect work and dictate another airline's existance via a codeshare. In essence, it will be a ...

Re: Pilots contract
I'm not an aviation consultant, expert or pundant, but I think there are several ways to implement a LCC. You don't need to violate the pilot's contract either. You don't need to get another operating certificate. You get an airline to do the flying for you and invoke a codeshare. SkyRegional fits t...

Re: AC low cost carrier closer to becoming a reality
The word on the street is that SkyRegional will be asked to run the low-cost carrier. SkyRegional already has a vast amount of knowledge of the A320 from their SkyService days. This would circumvent a lot of Air Canada's unions. In short, there may be nothing anybody can do about it.

Re: Jazz to become Air Canada Express.
If this is what you consider to be a "compelling and well educated" forecast, then I stand by my retort. Your "well" educated forecast, is overly simplistic. You simply can not predict the next nine years with any sort of reliability to draw the conclusions you made with any kind of certainty. Here...

Re: Jazz to become Air Canada Express.
CANAM Your an idiot. First off, its pretty hard to find the number of planes that Jazz currently has--not something that can be replaced over night. That being said, if Air Canada and the pilots want to play this stupid game, of race to the bottom, in the foolish hopes that they might see an extra ...

Re: Jazz to become Air Canada Express.
It's not that far away. New airlines will be brought in sooner than later, ala Sky Regional, ect.. New regionals can also be created with not too much effort too. And it's not the salaries that Bearskin pilots (for example) are making now that will be the deciding factor that will impact the industr...

Re: Jazz to become Air Canada Express.
I have been wondering when this was going to begin. For years, I have no doubt that Air Canada has been looking south at the American regional market with great admiration. That is, many lowpaying regionals constantly trying to undercut eachother for a piece flying. The new United Airlines regional ...

Re: sky regional leasing 5 q400s from jazz? news article err
Who owns Jazz's airframes? Air Canada may hold the title and then lease them to Jazz. This is the arrangement that ExpressJet has with Continental Airlines. Even if this isn't the case, I think it's clear that AC wants the same regional setup at in the US. That is, several regionals constantly negot...

Re: Interested by Sky Regional Airlines, please consider
I wondered when this day was going to come to fruition up here in Canada. Air Canada, much like her American counterparts, is in search of various regional airlines to serve her. In the US, some majors have as many as 10 different regionals flying under their livery at any given time. The contracts ...
Re: B737NG Simcheck
Unfortunetely, it has to be with the airline who leases, rents or owns the sim. There are some companies in the US that run type-rating courses geared more for people in the Southwest Airlines pool. You may have to enroll and complete their class though, which could cost upwards of $10,000. I would ...
Re: B737NG Simcheck
No. Since 9/11, the rules have changed regarding the use of jet transport catagory training devices for people without valid airline employment (background checks, ect).

another YYZ port question.
I'm finishing up my line indoc and need to sign up for a port soon. I live in YYZ, but have heard that it's been hard getting YYZ pairings. Can anybody give their 0.02. Is YOW a better option for a Toronto pilot?

Anybody renting thier car?
I have read past posts whereby people were renting out their car to somebody who was in initial training. Just curious if anybody is still interested in doing this for May and June while I attend class.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Even the dogs are crapping on WJ
I recently stepped into the lav, only to discover that somebody had missed the toilet by about 2' with an excellent turd. Unfortunetely, by the time I found it, one passenger had stepped in it with his $300.00 shoes. Needless to say, he was upset that he was going to miss his meeting because of this...

Re: anybody been called yet?
How do I get my foot in the door? I've got 5500 hours. 1020 Hours Turbine Pic in an Embraer 145. So far, I've been without success. How crucial is it to know somebody on the inside to get a call? I've been in the US for too long and don't know a soul at WJ.

AC hasn't hired in a while. Are there still "new hires" there? The junior guys should be on second year pay at least.
