All I can say is if you have the right passport/relatives/contacts go find work elsewhere. I would still be waiting around the office/ramp (of a job I quit) had I stayed in Canada, not to mention lived on Kraft Dinner. Mind you now the wait is for line training but I am making more than I ever did i...

Like the previous poster said... watch the deals, a charter I have used a number of times to go overseas is Air Transat. They can have some pretty dirt cheap fares, sometimes only one way though. I've heard of the standy-by thing but that's so unreliable it's not worth it. You could end up paying mo...

I'd have to say that I've always loved flying but not in terms of a machine... like ooOO look at that Concorde, etc (I don't care about the make and model) I've always just enjoyed the feeling I get on take-off, not caring to know what engine is revving up creating that feeling. Possibly because I'm...

as far as pointing goes...

I know that this is not exactly the thread topic but not being able to point ? I believe that's a personal preference that each person has. I haven't flown anything bigger than a light twin but on all my rides it's been drilled into me to point because the examiner wants to see it. There's also some...

pa31t <========= Do you have your JAR-FCL ? Have you taken the course in Greece.

For that matter, has anyone researched the conversion from ICAO to JAA in Greece ? If you have studied there please post with your experiences and if you now have a job.

Thank you,

Coming from another low-timer... Everyone has instincts... learn to read your own. No two people will have the same way of recognizing a bad situation. Quick examples of my own instincts/subconscious methods: I have learned that if I am late for work a couple of times in one month -- it's time for m...

Just my two cents... but I would definitely NOT get your renewal if they will be hiring you. Like the post above, a very important question to ask in the interview -- will you be getting a PCC or a PPC ? That way if they say PCC you can ask how they will let you renew your IFR (ie time off, or paid ...

There are companies out there that hire even when it's fall or winter because there are always people moving around. It may not seem obvious but they are out there. Also, I have found that operators and CP's for the most part are willing to sit with you for 5 min to discuss things when you go knocki...

I bought this emergency bathroom kit that I take when flying long cross-countries (Rest stop sp?) but man would that be a b%^#@ to use with no autopilot and someone else in the plane for that matter !

Oh, and as for the original question... since I only worry about legs and arm pits, I use a razor until it begins to get even a hint of rust or I get too many nicks -- usually about a month.

Speaking from a woman's point of view... if there are any where you happen to be living at the moment :)... a man who's used a razor blade to shave is preferred over an electric shaver EVERY time ! I'm a sucker for close shaves

I wouldn't call my job a dockhand but it's similar in that I'll have to wait 2 yrs before seeing the inside of an aircraft. At least I consider myself lucky to have gotten a job in June ! It really is about timing as there can be people leaving the company at any given time of the year. I must say, ...
