Ah, the environment and climate...... what is refreshing to see is the generational change as to what we did( to numerous to mention)the many years back. I applaud this generation in recognizing the continued ongoing damage and more to the point , demanding concrete action. Their voices will get mu...

Re: Carbon tax will drive up airline tickets

That's true, but the problem with that is that *everything* we do is affected by fuel costs and produces carbon. Even transporting environmentally friendly recyclabe bags or reusable drinking containers etc are transported at some point. That gets more expensive as well then. Unless you grow all yo...

Re: Recession.

Trucking full time keeps you away 24-26 days a month. Most pilots here complain about 15. At 15 days a month you're only gonna make ~40k (this assumes you work for a place that will allow you to work less than 22). Trucking has had a substantial detriment to my overall health and happiness. I had o...

As a trucker who normally would say it pays way better than most 703 gigs even in the first year pays more than jazz first year pays more than AC first-year. However that's the case of you stay out on the road 22+ days a month and I'm currently in a truck stop without even a trailer hooked to me ca...

Nothing wrong with great ideas sprouting up while having a shower! Effective use of ones time! Multi tasking? But in this case, don't do it. The reasons are all wrong. Buy a small aircraft for the flexibility of private ownership, building hours, and a long term commitment. Use it to go places. Usin...

Re: Recession.

It might very well go as high as Harper’s 55 and a half billion dollar deficit. Sometimes a bit of context is useful. Harper's deficits came during the worst global recession since the Depression. What's Junior's excuse? Being raised by a narcissistic communist with a trust fund and a drug addled b...

Walmart, the world’s largest big-box retailer, is giving truck drivers pay raises that would push their salaries up to nearly $90,000 and hiring additional drivers to address the shortage of truck drivers in its fleet.

Re: Piper "Bushmaster" conversion

I fly a Bushmaster conversion that I completed many years ago. Great airplane! I think you will find that the rules regarding conversion of an existing, certified airframe have become much more restrictive. If you want to register the airplane as an amateur built you will want to connect with the R...

A member of both shortwingpipers.org, and supercub.org. Both sites have many members with years of experience....

Piper "Bushmaster" conversion

Starting down the road to converting a short wing piper. Have been researching other sites more specific to this type of specialty. However, thought I would toss the idea out on this forum. What benefit was the instructor hoping to achieve by allowing you to thump it on the grass prior to the threshold? What was the purpose of an approach to a very narrow (30'?) strip in the early stages of your training? What is the dual rate on this A/C?

Re: Where is this so called shortage

The aviation industry is a bit of a joke, while its a privilege to fly and the pilots that have worked hard to get there deserve it it's also in the end a job to make a living. The aviation industry gets away with BS that would never fly in any other industry, take this for example: when I was flyi...

She should take the Q400 job. Stable, and lots of potential for the future. That's reality.
Then she should build a Super Cub clone and put it on floats for her spare time. That's fantasy. And it's attainable without sacrificing the stability of the Q400

Re: Trip report - East to West and back

Congrats on the enjoyable and safe X/C, Mooney21! Long trips across this country have impressed upon me how good our aviation system is in such a vast area as Canada. We must constantly watch and ensure this does not deteriorate. I passed through YQT with a Tripacer in 2012. Spent a night at the She...
