Re: Passed the PPL flight test!
Congratulations!
So exciting to see someone not only pass their test, but cross something off their bucket list at the same time.
Hope to see you in the skies. Enjoy every minute of it!

On oil sump off of an older version of this engine, C-125, C-145, O-300-A and O-300-B in NOT COMPATIBLE unless it has also has a new style rear case installed. The newer style that we need is a "5 hole sump".

SkyVector uses FAA charts, not Nav Canada as of yet. Still a great site though. If only we could do planning on that tool similar to ForeFlightDriving Rain wrote:http://skyvector.com/

I agree with everything you said, and will be offering the opportunity to my 13 month old son as soon ...

Re: Tell us about YOUR flight training...
Flying is just a hobby for myself, and always will be... I have been extremely fortunate in another career (IT) that starting over isn't an option, nor would I want it to be... I completed all of my flight training in Windsor, Ontario and received my PPL out of the efforts. I was rather slow at gett...

Re: Crosswinds
No worries, we were all green once. Just so I'm clear you don't touch down in a crab, you only crab until the flare then straighten it out with rudder and hold the center line with aileron - you still touchdown with the upwind wheel first. It takes practice, and you really need a good feel of how t...

Re: Crosswinds
I start doing crosswind corrections as soon as I'm established on final, rather than crabbing and doing it short final... I find things always work out much better this way. Snowy, if your planning on moving to anything with passengers on it learn to crab, it's a superior technique. Not only is it ...
