ADS-B Deviation Authorization Pre-Flight Tool (ADAPT)
I'm looking at the merits of installing ADS-B out in my aircraft, specifically for trips to the US. I was wondering if anyone on here has used the ADS-B Deviation Authorization Pre-Flight Tool (ADAPT) while flying through ADS-B airspace in the US and how that experience went. I have flown aircraft o...

Re: Trenton Military Terminal Area
The Trenton Terminal Controllers are great. In the last couple of weeks, I've even practiced simulated approaches there. Just don't descent below 200 feet AGL over the field!
No problems getting through the Terminal airspace or even the Control Zone for that matter.

Re: CYNJ Prolonged Dispute and Airport Shutdown
Does anyone know what went down at Buttonville when operations went from Tower to MF? How do the traffic volumes at CYNJ and CYKZ compare? Traffic levels at CYKZ plummeted before the tower closed and have rebounded to the mid 50,000 movements/year, just below the threshold of 60,000 movements that ...

It’s hard to do something about an issue, when you don’t know it’s an issue in the first place. I’d be happy to pass this along to our technical committee if you can provide me with the details.

Re: Pre-departure COVID-19 testing and negative results to be required for all air travelers coming to Canada
Has anyone travelled across the border since this rule came into effect? I will be travelling across the border as a Flight Crew Member and deadheading back and I'm curious how they have handled FCMs (as they are in theory exempt).

Re: Community/Residential Air Parks
There's a few fly-in communities around Chicago, which gets a lot of snow and has cold winters.
If anyone wants to start an airpark east of Toronto and west of Trenton, let me know! I'll invest and move in.

Re: Getting an aviation headset to work on a MacBook
bluetooth? I have the first version of the A20 which will only bluetooth to phones. Sporty’s sells an adapter for 59 bucks that makes an aviation headset work with a computer. It gives you two 3.5mm jacks one for headphones and one for mic. Then find the Y cable that combines them into one plug for...

Getting an aviation headset to work on a MacBook
I'm trying to figure out a way to get both the microphone and the earphones to work on a MacBook. I have found a DIY way of getting the earphones to work but not the microphone. Does anyone have any idea on a workaround? There are some boxes you can buy that are over $100 USD that I have looked at, ...

Re: Closing airspace
From COPA's perspective: The COPA National Office has been a part of regular teleconferences with TCCA. There has been no indication that they are going to shut down the airspace or are considering shutting down the airspace. The last call that COPA was on was yesterday so that is pretty recent info...

I have accepted the reality of the situation and am thankful that my wife is not in the aviation industry and has a stable, full time job. Hoping that my company's projection are accurate but I'm assuming that I won't be back at work until the summer at some point. In the meantime, volunteering wher...

Re: In ‘stunning’ reversal, Pickering is asking for airport to be expedited
Which airports are shuttered or being shuttered? Downsview is owned by Bombardier; they will want the most money for it, which they will get by turning it into housing. Also it's very close to Pearson so coordinating approaching and departing aircraft would be a nightmare. Buttonville already is a ...

Re: AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE IN GORE BAY, ONTARIO
I have flown into Gore Bay in the past on the way home from Oshkosh and ferrying aircraft through the area. Not based anywhere near by and would not consider Gore Bay as a regular maintenance facility, but it would be good to know if such a facility is established in case I had a breakdown enroute s...

Re: COPA for Kids pilots now require police check
Our biggest obstacle at CYTZ wasn’t the VSC, it was the weather! On our rain date for our C4K we had 4 airplanes fly over 50 kids around downtown Toronto. We would have had a fifth airplane, but it was grounded from a maintenance snag. The process for getting a VSC in Toronto is a huge pain in the @...

Re: CYTZ GA survey
A rather poor survey! In addition to some missed opportunity for gathering relevant information about transient flying to YTZ, I wonder what answer is sought for those of us between 50 and 61 who fly amphibians! Where on the survey do we add comments? It's up to YTZ to determine their interest in a...

Re: CYTZ GA survey
Here's some feedback for Clark to pass on: If you base an aircraft at the Island you can choose to pay $10 per landing ($20 after 10pm) or a $300 yearly fee. But you can only opt for the yearly fee on 1 January. So if you buy an airplane in February the Port Authority won't let you pay a yearly fee...

Re: CYTZ GA survey
A little disappointing in the questions. It doesn't ask anything to address transient traffic. I stopped flying into YTZ since the ramp prices went up. I still do fly by frequently enough, I just don't stop anymore! Any comments are welcome. COPA's hope is that they will establish a ramp for transi...

Re: Porter Commuting Schedule
From what I understand commuting is within their route network only. Commuting from outside (WestJet) is on your dollar and needs to be approved by the company. It's 6 months until WestJet (and all non Porter) flights are allowed to be standby/jumpseat. I could be wrong, however. That's correct. Pe...
