Re: Aviation Document Booklet - Expiration
I did a little research and this is what I found(worth exactly what you paid me for it :smt040 ): The published level of service standard for the issuance of an ATPL or CPL is 20 to 40 working days as per TP 14984. The fee for the issuance of a temp is in CAR 104.01 Schedule IV item 17 and is the :e...

Re: ATPL - multi VFR ride required??
Pro has posted the requirements for a foreign ATPL holder to acquire the Canadian equivalent. The 50 hours in the last 12 months is referring to Canada's requirement under 421.38(3)(c)(i) to credit a foreign applicant with respect to our Multi engine class rating. Naturally the Multi engine class ra...

Re: Cessna 150 down near Kelowna - No injuries
Gotta love the media
My 150 always appears empty with the master off too!! Perhaps they should just wait for the facts before they guess at a probable cause. Oh wait, you couldn't sensationalize(sp) it then!

Re: 406 hz ELT
The new regulations pertaining to the 406 Mhz ELT have been put on hold by the minister. If you check the current CARs I think you will find that you are not required to have a 406 ELT....Yet....and you will not have to have the new ELT until the CARs are changed. The Feb 1 Deadline was when The sat...

What is the fine for not having this latest idiotic bit of nonsense in your possession? That got me thinking :?: So I looked it up. I guess TC can hit you with a fine up to 5 grand.  401.03(1) No person shall act as a flight crew member or exercise the privileges of a flight crew per...

Re: 12,500 co-joe time
http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/general/personnel/2CrewAircraft.htm From the above table you can see that the 1900D has a minimum crew of 1 pilot. In regards to part 7 operations just put in an autopilot and throw out 10 of the 19 pax seats and do a single pilot ppc and you are off to the races.. ...

This could be Cessnas way of replenishing the training fleet with a more affordable unit. You could get at least two of these for the price of one 172SP. Students do not need to go fast or carry a large load when they are learning to fly. Sales will tell if the 162 "Skycatcher" is a true success. As...

Pushyboss, A pilot can override the accredited observer if the observer reports Ground Vis and not Runway Vis. You would just have to ask how they determined the vis. If they do it in anyway other than CARS 824.25(4) you may trump them. (4) A qualified person stands at the point of observation and, ...

Hedely, Below is the reference for the localized Phenomenon from CARS 700.10(3) The bolding is obviously mine, I read it as the PIC CAN overide reported ground vis. e) a localized meteorological phenomenon is affecting the ground visibility to the extent that the visibility on the approach to the ru...
