Re: Having issues with Medical?
Its so frustrating hearing these anecdotes. Transport Canada Medicine seems to have further devolved into a dysfunction, opaque organization. CAME's I've spoken to lately are less than complimentary of the recent changes. Like everything else Federal that falls under the umbrella of transportation, ...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
Rudder, purely as an aside conversation, I thought that ADP was authorized to distribute existing funds from what is essentially either a charter account or an account wholly managed by the corporation, with access authorization to ADP. I'm only basing this on what I've seen from looking at small sc...

Re: PayScale/Deductions
Well, mostly true. I do know for a fact while comparing 1st year paystubs, TS was ahead of AC. Deductions sure narrowed the gap but takehome was still slightly more. The comparator at TS had opted out of the CHP coverage but that accounted for only a small portion. The LTD/STD deductions are a hotbu...

Re: A321 v A330
I'm bored. Like really bored, so here goes :) So, there's no MFF yet, and unknown if it'll proceed. It needs to come with a generous kitty if it does. I've flown both, and I have a definite preference, Pros and cons from my perspective; (As a caveat, some of my info on pairings is several years old....

Re: Studies correlated with aerial firefighting
Hi, good question. Given most of that flying is more pure hands and feet, anything academic might only help with resume ammo to get into admin or director roles, but I'd suggest something involving forestry and conservation. Back in university for Bio I did an elective that was along the lines of ar...

Re: Transat or Porter?
All accurate opinions. It comes down to what you want. If you're DEC eligible you can make much more at Porter right off the hop, but you'll work a lot more- for some that doesn't matter. It's the personal preference of work to live vs live to work. There are many places where you can make more $$ t...

Re: Transat or Porter?
Your first years at Transat are the same as the 4 year flat pay salary as AC but your deductions are double, so the take-home is terrible.

So Oz gets lower paid pilots to undercut the incumbents?
If I'm wrong please rebuke me, I'm curious to hear the arrangement.
Edit, just read it's a dry lease? Then who cares?

Re: AvCanada finally restored and functional once again
I doubt Russian hackers would have any desire to take down avcanada, there's no value or utility, but sure seems like either a brute force or ddos attack. Ddos is intentional and targeted purely for disruption, so someone would have to have an axe to grind. Brute force is also targeted, trying to lo...

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
One thing to note is that an upgrade carrot isn't regarded as the only way to start making a livable wage and an excuse to depress FO wages into poverty, so the necessity for the all-important upgrade we're clamoring for here doesn't exist. Capts make about 40% more than FO's at Emirates, not more t...

Re: Flair/Lynx Merger
I'm curious as to if the subsidy stops. Flair could go another 10 years just being propped up, who knows. The pockets are very deep and 777 must have a function for the money going to Flair. I think pilots there are safe for a few years at least anyways.

The disability benefit thing is an absolute drop in the bucket.
I wouldn't choose to have to be reliant on 60% STD from 60k a year, minus taxes, as opposed to making 20k a month

Re: New interview process
I'm not responding to the fidget-spinner level of decorum from other posters above, but rather for those interested, I'm a 100% anglo at Transat and there are many. Everything in the company is bilingual, and while yes, you'll be immersed in more French in some instances such as flying YUL-CDG, but ...

Re: Flair Suspending Growth Plans amid Delivery Delays and Debt
The thing is, Flair is in a unique situation, much different from the basic financial structure of the other failed small airlines. Simply put, they won't go under because they've run out of startup capital, the business will just continue to operate on a loss and 777 will continue to pay the bills....

I suppose it's around 2017-18 for current upgrades but that's including a 2 year covid layoff. Actual YOS is 4-5.
However anyone hired now will be 3-4, possibly less.

There are pics floating around. Bolts had zero retention. No lockwire, washers, hell even loctite. Re: WORLD CLASS CONTRACT: ALPA
What has been the annual increase in the contract since is was ratified in 2013ish? 2%? Correct And some former ACPA Reps wanted to keep the contract for exchange for 2% raises Thanks. (And really? That's blatantly obscene.) So in total a 21.9% increase since 2013 over 10 years. Meanwhile "Official...
