Re: Auto Thrust or Auto Throttle?

Cliff Jumper got it, and it's my understanding as well from flying the different types. Autothrottle= Levers move along with the level of thrust commanded. Autothrust= You select a thrust mode by placing the levers in a detent. They don't move. Embraer and Boeing calls it autothrottle and the levers...

Re: Red Bull Pilot Flying Through 2 Tunnels

The view from the tail mounted camera shows how the airplane is rigged to fly straight with a little left yaw and bank. Unique perspective and interesting to see.

Incorrect. Rabies is caused when the humours are out of balance, especially yellow bile. Anyone who has a 4 year nursing degree knows that!

HA! This is the most AVCanadaesque post I've ever seen. Where else can you find a person who will shit on someone for saying they enjoy flying with most of their colleagues??

Re: "Big men" in aviation

Just be yourself, enjoy your time and don't think you have to respect captains that act that way. Learn about flying from them, that's all. All it takes are a couple of guys in a 703 to create a culture of negativity that's impossible to quench unless the problems leave. The newbies think it's cool ...

Hello everyone, First off, thank you to everyone who has participated in the poll, it's been very informative. Next, I want to let everyone who has PM'd me know that I WILL get back to each of you and start a personal dialogue. I've been absolutely inundated with interest and it will take time to wo...

Re: Interest in US airline positions

Don't fall for this scam. The EB-2 visa has and will never apply to pilot positions. There is a website circulating, which is poorly written and full of spelling mistakes that is promoting this. They will make you pay the lawyer fees, which are upwards of $30,000, take your money and you will never...

Interest in US airline positions

Hello to all guys and gals working at 705's. There has been a recent development to the American EB-2 Visa criteria for airline pilots. There is now a NIW, National Interest Waiver, in force, which relaxes some of the requirements for a Visa or Labour Condition Application, which would have previous...

Re: Rolling wheels easier than towing

I see... Had to rethink it as the fulcrum being the ground instead of the axle, the mechanical advantage makes sense from that perspective. I had to play with a wheel on my bench for a moment. There is still an different advantage in powering the wheels instead of plowing them however, which is what...

Re: Rolling wheels easier than towing

Hm, I don't think that's quite correct.... When you push the top of the wheel forward, the vehicle moves the exact same distance. You move the top of the wheel forward 6" and the vehicle will have moved 6". Also, the fulcrum in this case is the axle, not the ground. Also, since it is a whe...

Re: Rolling wheels easier than towing

If you're pulling a wheel on soft ground, a large part of the effort will be compressing the soil in front of the wheels which then deflects at a fairly high, inefficient angle in the rotational direction of the least effort, and the wheel rolls. By directly rotating the wheel, with power or otherwi...

Can be done removing the rear bulkhead, but just as a note, is it something you can do with metal studs? Could pack about 5-6x more if so before you bulk out.

I would suggest the difference here is that Jetsgo wasn't capitalized by 777 Partners. They didn't even seem to blink funding them through the pandemic. Pockets seem pretty deep and willing. They must see something pretty substantial in their long term plan otherwise their voting shareholders would ...

Re: Air Canada granted special stock awards and $10-million in bonuses while negotiating government bailout..

The US offering HB1 visas for pilots is the only thing that will shake up the Canadian aviation industry at this point. I don't know many who would stay, and I don't know how airlines here would cope with the 'brain drain'. Just look at the salaries, schedules, bases, income tax etc. on the US job ...

Bede, took the words out of my mouth. I'd be shocked (Or would I?) to hear they haven't gone up. I was at $22 about 8 years ago. Can't remember what it went to after upgrading classes though.

Re: How bad is commuting

It really depends on the company and the ability to build a commuting schedule. I know of guys who had to quit regionals because they couldn't/wouldn't/afford relocation from their home to YYZ or YVR. Personally, I've commuted for every single job except being a flight instructor, and it's generally...
