they are pretty expensive units, thats pretty much the reason! tragic loss though :( Your talking about $1000 on a $200,000. airplane. Sounds like a wise investment to me.[/quote] Putting things on the long finger is, and will always be, a very black and white decision, no matter how much the cost ...

After the accident, Leinweber has opted out of high flying a year early. He still owns two planes, which he’ll use for flights he deems “mundane” — low altitudes, low performance, strictly under visual flight rules. “From now on, it’s pretty simple,” he says. “I’ll no longer fly dangerously.” lol.....

Re: Watch your fuel!!
I flew YAX out of North Bay for a few months. Miss that plane. glad everyone is alright. PIC How did you like those controls ? lol I needed to build up a tiny bit of time for the night rating via circuits out of CYYB and my wrists were aching after! Conversely, though, the faux autopilot was nice! ...

Re: Watch your fuel!!
Some crazy stuff goes on in Southern Ontario, to list off one place lol I changed flight schools from an uncontrolled AD in S. Ont to one with a tower simply due to a contract being awarded to that flight school which increased the number of students training in the uncontrolled airspace who knew n...

Re: Watch your fuel!!
Was he an international student? I have found that some of their decision making seems to be very suspect. Perhaps the flight school should be responsible. If the student has this poor decision making, I am sure the instructor would have seen it in previous lessons. Perhaps when stupid decisions li...

Re: Watch your fuel!!

Although, that plane had a rough history when it came to getting "destroyed". It once went through a barn which clipped its wings!
Also, Wawa to Sioux Lookout isnt that bad of a flight, if you plan it well enough! I flew YAX from North Bay to Sault St Marie!
