Re: 182 crash at Langley

Thanks for the info. Hoping for a speedy recovery for all involved.

Do you mean the beginning of 25 (end of 07)?

Actually, the American controller was right and the Air Canada pilot was wrong. IAG->YYZ 319.0° (NW) not NNE

Re: VFR Reporting Points

If you want Vancouver VTA points, I can email you a GPX file or CVS which you can import... Very kind of you. Are you ok if I post a link to the data online? I'd like other pilots to benefit from it, point out any errors, and be encouraged to upload reporting points from other locations. What would...

Clearly the man wants the data in an electronic format. Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind it if my Garmin 396 had VFR waypoints....

Re: SCUBA and seaplanes

I am a SCUBA Divemaster (PADI) and a pilot, with personal experience of decompression sickness symptoms on a flight. I have a good basic understanding of the physics and physiology involved but am not an expert. For what it's worth, FlyGuy's reply sounds most correct of all the advice written so far...

Re: F-35 is dead

BUT, the probability to have an engine failure on a twin is almost doubled compared to a single. I've probably got less of a statistical background than anybody on this site, but I'm not sure that's correct. If you fly the exact same engine type on both a single and on a twin (although the twin obv...

Re: B1900 Ramp Check

And the regulator's reply would be: Perhaps a couple screws won't make the plane fall out of the sky (but that hasn't been tested!). If I let the company get away with a couple missing chin panel screws, next time the pilot might be pressured to fly with 3 missing (and the creep towards an accident ...

Re: Yellowknife ramp worker injured by propeller

To everyone in YK: SLOW DOWN. Take the extra few seconds to think about what you are about to do That is good advice for all of us who work and play around airplanes. (Perhaps the people in Yellowknife are the last people who need to be reminded of this, and the rest of us should take note). Anyone...

Re: General Aviation in Toronto

What can COPA do? Porter owns the hangar and they can set commercial rental rate as they see fit, unlike housing rental rates. I wasn't suggesting COPA get involved in a landlord-tenant issue. The original poster made the assertion that 'Billy Bishop Airport can no longer be considered ... availabl...

Re: General Aviation in Toronto

CYHM Hamilton is too far. (WIth Toronto's insane car traffic even YVR is too far). I'd love to keep using the Island when I fly to downtown T.O.. I was pleasantly surprised my first time landing there a few years ago when I had to pay $5 a night for parking, joking that it costs more to keep my car ...

Re: Hunt for the Mad Trapper (of Rat River)

I remember my Father telling me this story as he was a game officer that travelled that area. Great story. Getting shot and killed over a game violation just reminds us how things have changed for the better. Sadly, I don't think it has changed enough. RCMP officers are still being killed in a remo...

Re: Small Aircraft Crash CYVR

Many people will argue that this is neither the time nor the place to speculate on the cause, let alone say anything that implies any error on the part of the crew. I respect these opinions. However, with this many pilot eyeballs now on this forum I think we ought to take this opportunity to learn a...

Some other great pictures here: http://www.ctvbc.ctv.ca/gallery/html/bc_crash_111027/photo_0.html On a personal note, I flew over the top of YVR less than half an hour before the crash. Just prior to then, over the Burrard Inlet, I heard the accident aircraft talking to Vancouver Terminal. My passen...

I suppose you have to know a little history to get this joke, but did you hear the one about the Canadian pilot in Australia who - after a long flight - got frustrated with the number of questions being asked by the customs officer: . . . Aussie Customs officer: Do you have a criminal record? Canadi...
