I'm offering this Sensenich wood prop for sale.
I planned to put it on a kitplane but recently sold the kitplane.
If I remember correctly it came from a Citabria.

Best breakfast gatherings in southern ontario?
We've flown to Brantford for weekend breakfast a few times. I've also patronized Wiarton and Peterborough and run into some interesting airplanes and their owners. (And I miss Cathy at Burlington) Picking brains here for the next few weekends, what is the best 'fly-in breakfast' joint in your opinio...

The foreflight comments for CNR4 says that airport is closed for the season, no winter maintenance. Does anyone know if that's for this year?

Re: How useful is the VFR OTT rating?
It is useful for the instrument hours it provides. I ended up in IMC after my PPL and the 5 hours instrument time of PPL saved me. Years later, I got the night rating and realized I need more instrument time so I'm going for my IR. If it gets delayed, I'll do the VFR OTT or just some extra instrumen...

Are we taxed on maintenance we do on our planes (car602/part 91) in the states?
Am I supposed to declare say a tire replacement or fuel injector cleaning at the border coming back? How about engine overhaul or cylinder replacement?

Does anyone know if GA is impacted between provinces?
I've seen the NOTAMs for cross border flying but nothing for between provinces.
If I want to fly to Tremblant or the eastern Quebec region and file a flight plan, will someone ask me why I flew there?

DME Arc in southern ontario
Looking at approach types to practise, I cannot find a DME Arc around Toronto (not counting YYZ of course).
Is there a DME Arc approach in southern ontario?
While we're at it, is there a LOC BAC course in around here too?

Re: GA flight to Montreal
Landing fee under $15 for a single a/c (under 2000 kg) and about $25 if you require Canada Customs. It looks like the right airport right now. I'd be arriving with a baby and was hoping to not drag a carseat with us. CYUL apparently isn't directly on the subway line so for $300 difference it is not...

Re: GA flight to Montreal
montado: Chill out man, just discussing options here. I've been to several airports and the ease with which you can get to the downtown is different. Thats why I'm asking questions on an aviation board. CYRO makes access to Ottawa downtown nice and easy. CYUL isn't that easy to Montreal downtown. PA...

GA flight to Montreal
I plan to take family to Montreal from Burlington when the colors change. Hopefully in the next two months. I've found that flying into Ottawa is the easiest followed by Quebec City and Montreal is hard. CYUL landing fees (https://www.admtl.com/sites/default/files/2020/2021_AERONAUTICAL-FEES_REV.pdf...

Where would be a good place to do it if I wanted to avoid doing it in the states?
Are there well-known 'boutique' overhaul shops in Canada which do a lot of continental big bore overhauls?
And is there a cost benefit in getting it done here?

Re: Practice approaches while vfr
Thanks guys. BPF: I appreciate all the advice. “This is an anonymous form so if you are set on going out and flying approaches fill your boots” My nickname is my name. I’m hardly trying to be anonymous. In aviation at least I don’t want to do anything that requires anonymity. I think what you’re des...

Re: Practice approaches while vfr
Wow did that spawn a thread. I feel the need to clarify. I have a Bonanza and 700+ hours. A lot of it with flight following or cvfr in 5 different countries. I’m comfortable with doing things while flying and decided to get my IR when I can. In Ontario we are in a state of emergency and I wouldn’t w...

Practice approaches while vfr
Before officially training for IFR I’d like to practice and read some. I’ve been doing holds around custom waypoints. It seems like one can do practice approaches while VFR. Most of the YouTube videos are American and show American rules for the safety pilot etc. What are the rules in Canada for thi...

VFR flights to Cuba
Has anyone tried flying there using a vfr or cvfr flight plan? Looks like at least some people have done it: https://generalaviationnews.com/2017/06/01/first-vfr-flights-to-cuba/ However I'm wondering this from a Canadian perspective (should be easier for us right?) If someone did, or even a recreat...

How irresponsible do you have to be to land on such a busy beach instead of ditching in the water.
This could have easily gotten far worse.

Why is avgas not cheaper?
I saw mogas at 63c/litre yesterday. Oil prices have fallen to half very roughly.
Yet I do not see even a small dent in avgas prices in Canada or nearby places in the US northeast.
Why is that?

Non-essential border crossing banned
With the border crossing stopped (reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJ5bN4zDneU), how does this work for GA? If you call to notify arrival, customs will disallow you from flying? I'm not planning to fly south anytime soon, but I was hoping to later in summer. If this ban continues, can a GA...

AME course/license for ones own aircraft
The lack of a license prevents me from doing more than elementary work on my aircraft, except for my homebuilt. Is it worth getting the course done with the intention of just working on your own aircraft? From what I gather, it is the 48 months of apprenticeship experience that gets in the way. If I...

Radio license
I've been a PPL for almost 10 years. I remember getting my radio license years back. I realized that it is not a requirement for a PPL in Canada. This is echoed in the Copa guide to buying airplanes as well. At what point does one need a radio license? Is it when you cross the border, or upgrade to ...

I'm about to purchase a bigger aircraft than what I've been using, one that costs significantly more. I'm considering the funding sources of aircraft financing companies, or a fixed term HELOC. Aircraft financing seems to come with higher interest rates, a rigid payment system (HELOC fixed term is a...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max
I keep hearing that this is a training issue, but to me (single engine private) it is scary to hear that a procedure has to be in the checklist to be performed. If runaway trim happened in a Bonanza or Seminole, I certainly wont read the checklist before disabling the autopilot first and then manual...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max
What bugs me about all these groundings is that there isn't even a grace period. Any flights in the air now can complete the trip, but if one is scheduled to leave in an hour? Pax are screwed. Yes, that's what grounded means. Yes, I'm only stupid, not a complete moron. I know what grounding means, ...
