Re: Georgian RJ's
GGN can barely handle Rochester and Kingston, how are they going to handle more?? You gotta love the hate on everyone has for Jazz, and all they continue to do is provide value to air canada through an excellent on-time performance in a very safe and professional manner. The pilots make a decent wag...

Re: Is this a PFO or Just be Patient and Wait for a Call?
For all of us that have received that email, I know a way out: just pay your $60,000 and go sit right seat at GGN for four years. Seems pretty simple to me...:). On a more serious note: I would say just keep updating your application and continue improving your credentials. I would think they'd have...

Re: Is this a PFO or Just be Patient and Wait for a Call?
I got that exact email a few weeks ago. My first interview was 6 years ago, and I got the 6 month pfo at that time so continued to update my application. Ironically, I got an email from them about a month ago asking me to re-apply. This sort of felt like a permanent pfo...without even interviewing. ...

Re: AC arbitrated agreement
The best part is the Harper government has now given AC the ability to farm out Canadian jobs to the US. So expect thousands to be lining up for food stamps in the near future. I wonder if the morons in Ottawa thought that one through when they were "protecting our fragile economy".

Re: 50 Q400 at WJ being farmed out
Perhaps it's time airlines start charging proper rates for the services they provide. Based on the inflation rate of the past 40+ years, why are ticket prices virtually the same? I'm pretty sure fuel prices have gone up as well as real-estate. Why do we (the employee groups) continue to take the hit...

Re: Low Cost V Mainline
Obviously my white collar crime comment was an exaggeration, but how can we sit back and let these managers come in and destroy the wealth of a good company, while walking away with $millions? It just seems highly unfair. The good people of AC have no chance as long as this continues, and it seems a...

Re: Low Cost V Mainline
I'm baffled that Robert Milton wasn't accused of some sort of white collar crime when he decimated the airline, took $millions for himself, and left the company lying in the gutter, bleeding perfusly. How can CEO's be graciously rewarded for failure? If we fail a ride, we are not rewarded. But i gue...

Re: Air Transat layoff next year
Can someone explain to me how a company can continue to operate at a loss of a $100 million+ every quarter year over year and still hire pilots? And when a very reputable company hits difficult times (albeit still earn a profit), is forced to send people to the streets? I guess I don't understand th...

Under that same logic, where do you think the EMB's will end up in 9 years? The tone of this thread makes me think we actually want this to happen in the Canadian airline industry...not a good attitude in my opinion.

Green onions,
It's worth it. I'm in my forth year (trust me it goes fast) and my take home is approximately $3000 with another $1000 in per diems....not too bad if you ask me. It's not a bad place to hang your hat and with the possibility of growth, justifies even more so.

Re: Are pilots still being hired directly from Flight School
Keep in mind: Jazz's move to expand it's business outside of the CPA with AC, was not a move to undermine ACPA and AC (as some would be led to believe). I'm sure Joe would've been happy to sit back and bask in the glory of a wonderful CPA, one of the most lucrative in the industry, but outside press...

Re: Air Georgian Expanding Into 705 Ops
KAG,
Isn't their support of Skyregional (thus another Tier 2 operator to do their flying) evident of this? From what I understand about ACPA....they think one man's loss is ACPA's gain. Do they really think by having cheaper Tier 2 flying, their salaries will go up...they better think again.

I hope you ACPA guys aren't secretly encouraging this americanization of the regional flying here in Canada, just to spite Jazz. Just have a look south of the border....and tell me how many Embraer's are at mainline companies?

I find it amazing that the senior pilots who knew they were going to be able to hold the 757, agreed to the status pay system. It goes to show the type of pilot group we have here at Jazz. I gotta say it is an amazing place to work based solely on that.

Re: Jazz commuter policy
I think commuters will have the ability to trade legs with other pilots. Meaning, if you need to commute to say, YYZ from YQT, instead, you could operate that leg. It could mean the pilot originally scheduled to do the leg who just so happens to be a YQT commuter as well, could just stay in YQT, all...

Excellent point Teacher! You hit the nail on the head. This contract has to be good for both sides, because if it isn't good for the future of Jazz, I don't want it. I have many years left and want Jazz to remain healthy while also providing my family and I with a decent living.

I've been at Jazz for 3 years now and have been on Rsv the entire time...by choice. It seems to work best for my schedule and my young family, and I like how you can pick and choose flying through the next day desk. Being on rsv gives me quite a bit of flexibilty with check in times and variety of f...
