Re: "There's no such thing a a little ice"

Scandinavian Airlines System lost a MD80 just after T/O a few years ago; ice had built up on top of the wings during a ground stop after refuelling. The ice detached itself during the T/O roll, entered the engines which promptly flamed out. In addition to some minor adjustments to the pre-flight che...

Can`t buy it here-it`s forbidden. A couple of years ago I flew back here from Calgary with eight quarts of egg nog wrapped in plastic in my checked bag and forty eight butter tarts in my hand luggage. Merry Xmas!

The airplane that over-ran the runway at YVR was indeed a B707 but I believe it was owned and operated by Capital Airways from the USA and leased by CPAir.( Late sixties?)

I quit cold turkey after smoking 10-20 a day for forty years. I haven`t had a cigarette or a cigar since July 2004. My doctor had tried to get me to stop for many years but doubted very much that I could do it because he could not see that I was especially motivated. I had tried several times over t...

Ranger Oil used to keep a beautiful shiny red and white Beaver on wheel-floats in the hangar at McCall Field in Calgary, alongside their Lear 25 and G11, abou thirty years ago. Any-one know what happened to it?

We had a private Metroliner in our hangar in Calgary many years ago-it was used by a drilling company to transport drilling tools etc. I believe the airplane was equipped with a water-methanol injection system to assist in take-off performance. Come to think of it, we also had a Fokker F 27 in the h...

Reminds me of a story, almost certainly phoney, from the Falklands War; A British Army officer was briefing a group of Ghurka soldiers and asked for volunteers to jump from a Hercules. Half the men stepped forward and the rest remained where they were. The officer called over the Ghurka N.C.O. and s...
