Re: Arctic Diesel P50
From our king Air 200 manual. Supplement Arctic Diesel is approved by Pratt & Whitney as per service bulletin NO. 3044R11. Otherwise know. As P50 can be used up to an OAT of -43c You actually get P50 more than you may think north of 60. Have a look at your fuel receipt you may be surprised. As a mat...

On a side note, and I don't want to cause a thread drift here, but is that exhaust mod normal? No mod, that is a stock B100 exhaust.... TPE331 (Garrett) engines! Notice the props in full fine too, not something you should ever see on a shut down free turbine, but almost a necessity in a fixed shaft...

Re: Pilot Opinion Survey Re: Changes to FDT Regulations
Oh, and wanted to add the obvious solution, above my pay grade, but I'm asked to do so often. Two men working two different 8hr shifts, IS the same as one man working a 16hr shift. AND, I am one of the guys that does NOT want to work 15hr back-to-back shifts for 14days in a row. Been there, done th...

Re: Pilot Opinion Survey Re: Changes to FDT Regulations
I don't know, my initial response is it seems like a bunch of unionized pilots at a big airline trying to get out of as much work as possible. 1928 hours max time on duty in a year? Really? 2080 hours is a normal Monday to Friday job working 8 hours a day. I didn't really see anything in there that...

Haha, that says a lot for their mentor.Meatservo wrote:If I was hanging onto the back of a plane and couldn't get back to the cockpit, I think I'd stand a better chance letting go and hoping for the best, than I would by trying to hold on during one of my co-pilots' attempts to land.

A number of stations around the route that report sky conditions indicated clear (WX history), including the destination airport. Not able to find the metar near the departure airport. Not sure w...

Re: Into the Abyss - Wapiti Crash
Just finished the book. I found it quite interesting, a real page turner. I would recommend to anyone interested in aviation. Most interestingly in the aftermath during the inquiry, it came to light how most of the pressure Erik (the pilot) felt seemed to be self imposed. I have experienced this mys...

tbaylx. You pay taxes on the whole runway. Why not use it? Touch down on the threshold.
I have never seen a gravel strip that reports a CRFI. Good luck with that one.
Inspect the bottoms of your flaps behind the gear, this is where you will get the bulk of your damage on that aircraft

Re: Multi Engine-Piston PIC
I have never seen an SOP that dictated the percentage each pilot should fly. Also back in the real world you would be surprised that in 703 and 704 ops there are actually aircraft that do not have auto pilots. There are actually people in the aircraft manipulating the controls... As scary as that mi...

Re: Multi Engine-Piston PIC
I'm of the belief that a good captain is in command of his ship but is also a mentor to his first officer. Any captain worth his weight is able to take green FO's and help them become efficient crew members. I think it is obvious that new FO's are going to need mentoring, the same way new captains a...

Re: Multi Engine-Piston PIC
Just a question, who do you think is more qualified? A pilot with 1500 hours pic instructing in a 150, or a pilot with 1500 hours in the right seat of a light twin? I personally would like someone with operational experiance. Some of you are making this flying out to be some super human feat. Imagin...

Chase lifestyle, not metal. Don't worry about the type of machine you are flying, pick the job that gives you the schedule, pay and location you want. E I don't really agree with this idea. Maybe later in your career but when you are starting out if you want PIC time go out and find it. When I was ...

Wow. Get a life! Seems like a fair concern, didn't seem like the OP was chastising anybody. Your reaction IMO is unwarranted. If you're gonna post a reply it may as well be of some value.
