Re: Whats the deal with Class E control zones?
Kamloops Radio routinely help sort out traffic, VFR-VFR and VFR-IFR. They don't have to but they do. Laura, Just a correction to your comment above. The reason why we at CYKA radio (and Sumspot Radio) "routinely help sort out traffic" is because we HAVE to. Traffic management is a primary function ...

Re: New NOTAM website - old site withdrawn
Just a few unofficial tips: For airport notams, enter the code of the airport without any radius and it will show all notams associated with the airport. All notams have a radius of action depending on the type so for example a VOR that's 20 nm away will show. If you are looking for notams for a fli...

P.S. Pas...

Re: How are People Filing IFR Flight Plans?
I really like CFPS, but there is one dumb thing. The master flight plan list I made of 10 or so flights I often fly populates Navcanada's computer with 10 master flight plans. Multiply that by the half dozen pilots at out company using it and when someone phones in a flight plan the FIC or ACC has ...

Re: FSS First Postings - Dog / Pet Friendly?
Hello,
My initial posting was a northern station with housing provided by Nav and my dog was allowed, as long as the house was returned in good condition (obviously). She loved the -30 degrees
I'm not sure if it's national or just local policy though.
Jonathan

Re: AWOS question re "ICG"
FROIN is still used by human observers when frost is observed on the indicator. ICG being reported by AUTO stations means there is icing detected on the icing sensor. Nothing to do with icing on the runway or in clouds. Most likely when freezing precipitations occur. I'm not sure if it codes ICG whe...

Re: Anyone in Montreal has received an FSS formation invitation?
Hey guys What did you do before becoming a FSS (or an ATC)? Have you been to university? How is the training for ATC compared with university? FSS was my first real job. I was still in cegep when I got accepted. I completed some university studies at home in the last years "just in case". ATC/FSS t...

Re: Anyone in Montreal has received an FSS formation invitation?
Not my thread but could anyone let me know realisticly how long you should expect to wait before getting to move back south from a northern FSS posting? It used to be 2-3 years, then it increased due to the lack of training. It took me 8 years to get to somewhere south after a few postings in the T...

Re: Anyone in Montreal has received an FSS formation invitation?
I was like you when I started with Nav. I wanted to go VFR but I accepted a FSS offer instead. I don't regret it today. It's a different job but there are similarities and a lot of things that you wouldn't see otherwise. There is a strong need for staffing in the Montreal FIR for FSS, you will be we...

Re: Entrevue/simulateur/horaire/posting FSS et contôleur Nav canada
Salut ! Je peux répondre à certaines questions. 3.
