Re: YXD countdown has begun
MIne is white with red. That could have been us. That would be nice. I took my discovery flight there over 25 years ago and saturday Nov 30 2013 was the first time ever that I flew into and out of that airport as a pilot. It was a trip that was long over due. It was sad watching as my wife waved to ...

Re: Should I buy an airplane?
Don't worry about the cold and not having a hangar. Don't fly at -30. Put a cap on cold weather. I don't fly past -20. I have two little buddy heaters and put one in the cabin and one under the coal with a good winter cover. In 4 hours it's perfect to fly. Flying in winter is the best time. Calm col...

Re: Should I buy an airplane?
Absolutely, you should buy an airplane. Dont listen to the guys who say dont do it on these forums. Hang around these forums long enough and youll be so jaded you will never leave the house If you want a plane and have the money to cover costs then do it. Enjoy it, it can be one of the most rewardin...

Re: Springbank Airport
Hi all, Made the trip back in August. Came in from the northeast and was vectored to the north VFR route in. All the controllers were really courteous. My wife thought that it was funny that the tower told a West Jet 737 that we were its traffic. The high density altitude made it lots of fun getting...

Re: Mode C transponder recertification
Thanks for all of the information. I had two shops quote me $700 and this did not include chasing leaks. Then I had a reputable shop that many recommended quote me $175 not including issues with leaks. Its for a 172.

Re: Mode C transponder recertification
Im not sure what I am supposed to do, I probably messed up my wording. I need to have my mode C transponder re-certified or what ever is needed as it has been two years. This is my first time with a Mode C. I guess I am just looking for what needs to be done and what should it cost.

Re: Springbank Airport
Im coming from Meadow Lake. This will be my fifth time in. My track takes me over Three Hills and south of Airdrie. Ive been cleared direct through YYC airspace and then the last time sent along the north to 776 then south. All these were with no Mode C. I told them that I was unfamiliar with the ar...

Re: VFR-OTT question
How about a commercially rated pilot, who lets his class 1 medical expire and defaults to class 3. ( I only keep the class 1 if I am flying for work). Can this person who still has a commercial license, but cant fly for a commercial operator because his medial has expired, fly VFR OTT privately? Yo...

Re: Purchase c172 with 0-300 or 0-360?
The 0300 is a sweetheart of an engine. Like all have said, very smooth. Basically an 0200 with two more jugs. I love the engine and myself and two buddys have 172's with the 0300 D and have no complaints. Really no power difference between the 0302 and the 0300 in my opinion. As for icing, nevern be...

Sure does. I like Bud though for his heroics and bravery for running beside his combine or infront of the unmanned tractor pulling the grain dryer.beaver1 wrote:Travis the "young gun" seems like a good dude.
