Re: Air Canada Rouge to expand to Vancouver, Calgary
this Rouge thing would spread around the country. The entire Caribbean is going Rouge - no more mainline down that way. Rouge is off the BGI route as of Oct 01. Mainline A319 until Nov 30 then B777-300 from Dec 01-Mar 30. Have flown on Rouge a couple of times to BGI and Y class is not as bad as peo...
Re: item
AC's coffee is Second Cup coffee. At least on mainline. Don't know about Rogue! Personally I prefer Dallmayr from MUC. In the old days we would occasionally get Kenco out of LHR, MAN and GLA...delicious!

Re: Question
Spent the last 2 years of my career flying the A340/A330. My esteemed old colleague, Les Lavoie, has given some good replies to Old Fella. Regarding the A340-300 I would merely like to add what an old friend of mine from BeeWee (BWIA International, now Caribbean Airlines) said about the -300. "Best ...

Glad to hear that you're keeping well and can still ace an A330 PPC!
Take care Old Friend.

If he was wrongly "thrown out" of GDIP, he should be reinstated back into GDIP. Seems like a "no brainer". I may be mistaken but at the moment there is NO GDIP past age 60. The GDIP plan terminates at Age 60. So George could not have been thrown out of a plan that does not exist...for him. Speaking...

Re: ACPA's Pilot Placement Committee - Thoughts For The Futu
See that's the kind of failure of imagination that I've talked about so much. Step onto the escalator at the bottom, step off at the top and don't bother thinking about anything in between. Too many people are incapable of thinking outside those parameters and that's why we lose. We're a bunch of l...

Re: ACPA Implodes !
Why do you have a problem with retired pilots working? Should we lock them up in a retirement home? Maybe we sould turn them into Soylent Green? LIS, I wonder if you would be even asking that question if you had a son, or daughter, who was trying to get their first flying job and found their way bl...

Re: ACPA Implodes !
I would have thought that a 'unionized' group of professionals would have thought that one through better. With absolutely no sarcasm intended, where is it listed that Pilots are a professional occupation? Again, I am not being sarcastic. If there is documentation showing pilots as a professional g...

Thats all sounds nice but you've already let the virus that is Sky Regional in. There is not turning back now. I would have thought that a 'unionized' group of professionals would have thought that one through better. My question is, exactly how do you expect to justify your Airbus 320 140K a Capta...

...This airline is plagued by mediocre management. Maybe it's a leftover from long ago when it was a crown corporation, Partly correct Rockie! What many seem to forget, however, is that the present AC is an amalgam of AC, CP, PW, WD, EP, TX[?], ND. Each of those airlines brought their own corporate...

This union simply doesn't get that what little credibility they had going into this has been sytematically obliterated by their own hand. When anger turns to wholesale ridicule only the seriously mentally deficient could miss the message. Every single one of them should resign and that includes tho...

Re: T/A Vote
My sources tell me that the TA has been sent out for ratification exactly as originally worded, no tweaking, nada. I predict it to be turned down with around 75-80% NO vote. Both AC and the MEC have seriously underestimated the visceral opposition to this TA. As my old pal TurboBeaver said, this one...

Because of the ACPPA [that's Air Canada Public Participation Act]. AC is hamstrung with operating constraints imposed by the government, WJ is not.invertedattitude wrote:So in 300 words or less, why is Westjet making money and Air Canada is not

No, they do not. There has been a long history of MEC members taking management positions after their service to their unions dating back years. Every once and awhile, the union has discussed having management pilots lose their seniority once they elect to go to the dark side. Not a bad idea actual...

I would say, with only a small to minuscule chance of being wrong, that your statement, accumulous, is spot on. In the same breath, I would also venture, with only a slight reservation, that AC pilots, in the majority, ( ei: that's 50% + 1 for the uninformed ) do not have the '' brains '' to realis...

This problem is also exacerbated by 'outside' posters [non-AC pilots on this forum whose knowledge of the inner workings of ACPA and AC is thir...

As pilots holding some of the top positions in Canadian aviation, we need to show our leadership to the rest of Canadian aviation by bringing this group together and not eating our young. This in a nutshell, discribes most, (NOT ALL!) of the people running Air Canada Flight Operations. On many occasions I've been approached to do a project, or other and find who I have to anwser to, is just not worth my time and effort. I do take heart in the fact that many of these managers have gl...
