Skydiving Caravan max pax?

What's the max number of divers you can fit into a 208 and 208B. I know a seatbelt has to be available for each jumper so I guess the question is what's the max number of seatbelt you can put in the plane?

C182 Amphib crash in Kananaskis July 26, 2013

I've heard faint rumours that a seaplane crashed near Fortress Lake this weekend. Does anyone have any further info on this.

Re: Fuel imbalance c208 floats

Thanks for all the feedback. I hadn't thought about closing both selectors off and seeing if the engine continues to run in order to verify a leaky selector exists. How long will the engine normally run if there are no leaks coming from the selector valves? Is there any danger to the engine in doing...

Fuel imbalance c208 floats

Everyone knows you have to get both fuel selectors shut off at the docks otherwise face a nasty fuel imbalance when you return to the plane. However, yesterday after being off for several months I did some recurrent training and noticed another issue and wondered if this is normal or what. I mention...

SCUBA and seaplanes

I had an inquiry regarding flying in a non pressurised seaplane after a scuba dive. Some divers want to reach a remote location that just can't be done by boat. We would be returning at a max altitude of 1000' and probably lower. I know PADI says 12 hours "suggested" after a dive. I note this isn't ...

This season I went from $6000/month on the Beaver to $7500 on the Caravan. Rent included.

C208 Amphib Info

I'm hoping to get some real world info from actual Amphib Caravan pilots. Please don't turn this into a Caravan vs Otter vs Beaver etc debate my company has already made the decision to buy the Van. I just want to learn as much as possible before it shows up. I have some time in the Van on wheels. I...

Re: HEY....TRANSPORT! PAY ATTENTION ya punk a$$ b!tche$

Save your 52 cents, Colonel - didn't you see the CBC special on SMS the other day? 'The accident rate doesn't reflect anything wrong with SMS' - nor fatigue, I'd bet. No accidents, no problem, no action.... There's no blood test for fatigue so never will there be an accident officially attributed t...

Re: I just wrote SARON

Im not sure I'm comfortable doing that. I'd rather make every effort I could to get the best mark possible not just a pass. I'm almost at 1000hrs now and I'm going to write the SARON and SAMRA in the next week or two. Try and get it out of the way before I head back to work. Is it true that on the S...

DHC-2 POH

I'm looking for a Beaver POH in PDF format / scanned. I did a search already on the site and found an old post but the links don't work. I googled and found a number of sites that offer a PDF version but every time I tried downloading it the links didn't work for me. If anyone has a DHC-2 POH in PDF...

Career Pilot Center doesn't list any C-208 for Empire Aviation. Am I looking at the wrong Empire Aviation? Anyone got a link?

Re: 7 hr float rating

Either way you go the 50 hour float course would be sweet but good luck getting the 500 hours on floats that most operators require to work. That's not true at all. I got a job with about 260TT and 50 hours on floats last spring. Sure some employers wanted to see 250, 500 or even a 1000 hours on fl...

Re: Need help.

Cat, I've heard that dogs can adjust the level of their hearing by tensing and relaxing their inner ear drum. That's why even though they have very sensitive hearing they aren't constantly bothered by everyday sounds. What this means is that when your dog goes flying with you he will relax his inner...

Re: Plane Crash near Nelson Bc ( CZNL )

This is very sad. I can't help but wonder if the cold also played a role in his demise. A broken leg obviously was the key factor but I know I have the habit of of unzipping my jacket and or even taking it off while I'm flying on extended legs just to be comfortable. Definitely something I'm going t...

Re: Bush pilot of 50 hours.

I did 50 hours of float time. I really didn't want to spend any more money either but I figured I needed to do something to make me stand out a bit more than every other 200hr pilot with a basic 7hr seaplane rating. It definitely helped me, I got that elusive first job last spring and I have a secur...

Short flying season but a great one

I just wanted to say a big thanks to all the guys I worked with this summer. Brian: Thanks for giving me my first float flying gig. Steve: Thanks for being a great CP and being patient with me. Kev: Thanks for helping me build that elusive float time. It’s a shame we had to shut down the 185 early t...
