It's nice to see management engaged in a positive way on this forum.
How are the contract negotiations coming along? I hope captain pay in the new contract will reflect the experience levels that Flair hopes to attain and continue to attract.

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share
If they have been there 20 years and are close to retiring wouldn't they have a reasonably large pension earned by now? Why not just retire and ride into the sunset? Most airlines don't have an actual pension plan. Most pilots close to retirement probably would have been in great shape to retire, b...

Re: New Employee Travel Dress Code
Good. I never understood especially on leisure routes why you'd want your employees to dress up in business attire. Wouldn't the company rather have the employees blend in and not be noticed?

Re: Express Pilots VS Mainline Pilots
Express pilots have an agreement with Air Canada, technically your application is already in. It's also much easier for you to get that spot at Air Canada than it is for an off-the-street pilot. At the end of the day, yes they can do what they want, and recent history has shown tremendous advantage ...

Re: Dress Code
It should be airline and route appropriate, with certain restrictions. No open shoes for example. If one is flying to Varadero, it is silly to expect an employee to be dressed in business casual. I agree that being clean, presentable, with certain restrictions and to blend in is the way to go. If yo...

TFTMB heavy, I appreciate your posts, I wish there were a "like" function. I guess I'm on the ignore list because I provide facts, not innuendos. The 169 positions are in fact full-term positions, start to finish. If I count the actual number of pilots deployed comprised of full-term and half-term, the number of pilots overseas this summer are 240. There are literally 240...

Gilles, it is really sad that you fail to recognize that 169 full-term positions have been awarded this summer overseas, and you are crying about 80 foreign pilots that may come in the winter. This thread was about hiring at Sunwing, which is happening as we speak. It is distasteful to hijack a thre...

Re: SUNWING
Just to clarify, there are 169 full-term positions overseas being covered by Sunwing pilots this summer across 8 bases. This is highly successful for the company and the pilots alike. Be careful what you wish for Gilles, as Air Transat has a number of wet-leases overseas which benefits the company a...

Re: SUNWING
There are approximately 150 full-term pilot positions on deployment this summer in Europe. All of these pilots are very very well taken care of, and on full-term employment. This is the same thing that Air Transat does, albeit on a smaller scale. Air Transat sends pilots on deployments as well flyin...

Re: Sunwing captain passed out drunk in cockpit
I don't mind these split shifts at all. I'd rather do one of those than a normal red-eye any day. You go to work, do a one hour flight, go to the hotel for a few hours, come back and do another one hour flight and you're done. Many airlines do these shifts, and they often go quite senior. It's bette...

Re: Westjet Pilots Vote Against Expanding Widebody Fleet
I think the crux of the earlier statements is this - if pilots are argueing to be paid more to operate the 'wide-bodies', should the same premium not apply to those wide-body ACA's? or dispatchers? For dispatchers at Air Canada, they are paid quite well. I believe starting pay is around $50,000 giv...
