Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

On one hand I see this is as basically a metro 2 with the rosemount system.

Single AOA attached to a stick pusher.

I think every metro pilot is well versed in the drill SAS clutch off.

On the other hand I see how crews weren't aware, Boeing didnt tell anyone really till after Lion Air.

Re: Atlas Air 767

This accident has me worried. Jump seater from other airline. Reminds me of fedex in the 80’s. I really hope that my fears are wrong. The jump seater just got hired at a major (American?) and was supposed to start ground school shortly. United. They gave him his wings and left his seat empty in the...

I hate to quote myself but.... Using the information Chorus included in the presentation on the corporate website related to the modified CPA with AC, here is the projected Express fleet circa 2025: 60 76 seat jets (SKY included) 15 50 seat jets 36 78 seat props 19 50 seat props The piece that seem...

Re: Things are brewing in the kitchen.

Nothing about pay increase... must be by design? AC wins if anyone wants to stay at Jazz cause pay is so low. AC wins if anyone wants to flow over cause they’re so short pilots... and newbies go on fixed pay. It’s a win - win - win for AC. Personally I don’t necessarily want to go to AC.... if pay ...

Re: Manitoba Govt Air Services to be Privatised

The RFP wants 6 twin turbine and one jet airplane. That doesnt seem like enough. When I was there a few years ago there was what about 16 planes and crews for basic transport us life flight plus the twin otters. My memory of life flight was their on call nurse and or doctor constantly pushing whate...

Interesting responses, thank you very much. I suppose I must not have had a clear understanding about what constitutes of GDO at a place like Jazz. Surely they don't reserve the right to work you to the maximum allowed in the CARS, do they? Perhaps if there are not GDO's in the sense in which I int...

I don't think it would be certified if it couldn't maintain altitude on one engine. It wouldn't be able to do a V1 cut.
Single engine sure I know they can easily fly... single engine gear down is another scenario.

I saw one of the reasons the escalators are often not working. People take too many bags get stuck at the bottom or top and hit the emergency stop button.

Then no one resets it.

Re: My First ILS to minimums

How many of you have flown from the marker to DH by hand? I'm going to gather that many have. Fly a piston twin, B1900, Metro etc up north? ILS's, LPV's to minimums in winter every day with no flight director, A/P and on steam guages (well maybe the B1900 and Metro may have F/Ds). I spent years doi...

If its a metro, and the standard control locks are in place then they do not lock the elevator but they do lock the powers from being advanced higher than ground idle.

Re: iPad Mini 4 and ForeFlight

I use foreflight on a mini 3 cellular model with 32gb.

I dont use it for anything other than flying and with all of Canada VFR and IFR charts as well as most of the Northern US border states I have 6 gigs to spare.

So in my opinion a 64gb should work just fine.

They did, and the entire fleet was grounded because the batteries like to get a little toasty. They are still having issues with them apparently.

L-ion is the way to go though. More power less weight.
