Re: hiring factors (older entry level pilots)

I say do it, your work and life experience will carry a lot of value. I've lived with the regret of not pursuing flying since the last time I was paid to fly...about 10 years ago. I now live in the rat race, commuting 2hrs+ a day, making great money (140k+), doing boring work, and I would walk away ...

Re: Sky Regional Hiring

Most of the hiring has been completed. First course is starting now (in the UK I'm told), and another in Jan. They are seeking out retired AC Captains to do training and line flying for several reasons, including; outrageous insurance requirements (due to ERJ175s), instill the AC culture in new pilo...

The tax laws in this country are written for companies, not employees. If you're going to collect more than $50k in a year; Incorporate, get an HST/GST number (required if you will receive more than $35k/yr), signup for low-cost web based accounting (www.kashoo.com), get a credit card just for your ...

At the controls? Doesn't "control" end at 400' now?! :( Regardless. If there is a keypad entry system to unlock the doors, why would anyone need to get up and look through the peephole? I can only assume that this manual 'look through the peep hole' procedure (which is completely flawed from a secur...

Re: Pilot locked in bathroom causes terror scare

I've never seen an FA take position in the flight deck while one of the pilots visits the lav. I had a chat with the Captain of an AC A320 recently while waiting for the lav to open up, and when he returned to the flight deck, he just punched in the code and walked in himself. No complicated procedu...
