Re: Read all the MEL details
I'm not discrediting the crew for what they did. I'm not at the pointy end of the airplane and am not questioning their decision. I am also not familiar with the 787 MEL so all of this is a question to learn. Could the crew not remain at FL410 with a 8000' cabin pressure as most aircraft have that s...

Re: WestJet To Launch ULCC
Pilots in Canada need to start uniting and put an end to this BS. The only ones benefiting from this crap is the Executive Teams. Corporate greed is killing North America. Fellow WestJet pilots. Sign a card please. Love to see AC join ALPA once we do. For the record I am pretty sure WJ pilots will ...

Re: Search for MH 370 comes to an end. Perhaps permanently.
I know some of you will disagree, but I feel the search should be abandoned. Whatever speculation there is on what brought down this aircraft is immense, we just have to have faith that whatever it was will never be replicated, regardless of thinking we need to know the cause of the accident. Too mu...

Might be time to start paying the tug operators more than minimum wage, you might get some more motivated candidates then. That's a load. They would just be even more lazy than they are. Now here is someone who looks down on the "peasant", aloft his mighty perch from the cockpit. All hail his royal...

Re: Canadian Govt buys 18 Super Hornets
Darkwing, I understand the point you are trying to make, but using the Sherman vs. Panther is a very poor choice. Research has shown that on average it took 5 Sherman's to kill a Tiger/Panther. 4 of those being totally destroyed with the majority of the crews lost. The Germans even nicknamed the Sh...

Re: Canadian Govt buys 18 Super Hornets
I believe that should we acquire the F-35 we will be getting the most advanced aircraft out there. However getting a model like the SH or Raphael, or Eurofighter is like buying a last year model car. It is still nice, can do the job but does it have all the bells and whistles you really want, or mor...

Re; the American Airlines ; That's scary, I used to taxi by that area on a regular basis. Southeast cargo ramp. Just shows that you could be killed doing your walkaround by an airplane accident that is completely out of view from your present position. Why do you just think in terms of a pilot doin...

Re: Sully - The Movie
Just saw it myself. Highly recommended; it is the most realistically presented aviation movie ever. You mean after Hot Shots right? Wrong on both counts. Planes and Planes, Fire Rescue. Those are the best aviation movies. However the airplane sequence in Madagascar 2 was pretty choice as well.

Re: China is rolling out AG600 amphibious water bombing airc
Once again it appears that the Chinese (or any other communist state...ie USSR) lacks any originality. But heck, it cost money for research and development so why not just steal someone else's design and change it a little bit to make a new product. http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=25&...

Re: F/A-18E vs F-35: Why is the government still debating?
It was mentioned earlier, I think we should get about 40-50 SHs and about 40 F35s. Also include in the SHs purchase the Growlers. While the CF18 is/was a versatile jack of all trades, master of none aircraft, I cannot see the SH being much different. What we really need is a specialized ground atta...

Re: Misfueling close call
I fully understand how these things may occur. When I was refuelling our AvGas truck and our Jet B truck were almost identical. One of my co-workers mistook the Jet B truck, pulled up to a piston twin and pulled out the hose. A quick call on the radio to him to check his truck saved a mis-fuel. And ...

Poorly written article. The writer jumps around on topics and omits details of what they are actually talking about.

How much is this going to cost the Canadian taxpayer for canceling the F35? Remember Chretien and the Cormorants? How quickly we forget. And in 4years time when the Liberals are out, the PC will then re-sign deals to purchase the already overpriced Lightening II. Don't get me wrong, I have changed m...

Re: Medevacs...with a Jetstream?
The issue may well be for the transfer of bariatric patients. Many of these people simply can't fit into the Beech 200 class of aircraft. Therefore, a larger aircraft is required to extend healthcare to these citizens. They have road ambulances similarly equipped. Can't see this to be the reason. I...
